				Powder coating motors

I am thinking of trying to powder coat my housing andand irons. Has anyone powder coated their housing and irons before. Does heating them up to bake cause any problem

I was told that the baking temp for the powder can't be over 350 so it has to be low temp powder but I don't know who sales it.

My entire engine, irons, rotor housings, all of it, is powdercoated, ported, assembled, running, and running like a bat out of hell. I have absolutely zero issues. In February, I will begin offering this service. Price will be competitive, and completely to order, no "only" color options, any color, any combo. Pics for proof.

I powdercoated a junk housing for display purposes once, flash @ 450, bake @ 400. The chrome lining started to seperate from the steel liner. Good thing it was already a junk housing, becuase it definately was afterwards. So no, it's not "legit" unless you use the previously mentioned low temp powder

Exactly, low temp powder and you're good. The powder I used was rated at 400* but I turned the temp to 300* and doubled the time in the oven. I've opened the motor up since the powder coat, and I've had zero issues. As long as your surface is clean, the powder will stick, my brother has powder coated a valve cover and it was, at the time, too big for our oven, he used a heat gun and simply heated the thing from the outside only. He's had no flaking since then.
