No brake lights, no reverse lights, fast left signal
Car is an S4 n/a.
A couple weeks ago, I had one of the front signals burn out (I believe it was the left), I replaced it and everything functioned fine. Shortly after, I began having the following problem: -The left signals blink fast (no bulbs are burned out), while the rights function normally. -Both red panels in the taillights light up, but they don't get brighter when the brake pedal is depressed. -The reverse lights don't come on. -If I turn on the hazards, the left flashers blink at normal speed Any suggestions I should look into?

Ugh, sounds like crossed wires. I'd start looking in the locations you were messing around in, probably try leaving your left blinkers on while you mess with the wires. If they start acting differently or normally then you could be close.
Be aware, this kind of shit can be hard to track down.

Did it all work properly before?
Or is this just a culmination of a bunch of problem you decide to ask about all one time now? I would start with the "CPU" - I think all power signaling the turn signal, whether it's the turn signals themselves or the hazards, do go through this black box. Cold solder joints are typically the problem - resoldering them usually fixes all the headaches. If the problems are not connected with each other, then read on... Brake lamps not turning on when stepping on the brake pedal could be bad brake switch. No reverse lights could be bad reverse switch on the transmission. -Ted |

^ It all started at once.
I haven't gotten a chance to do much investigating yet, but I did some thinking and came up with a lead I can track down. Somewhere along the line, someone installed an aftermarket trailer light hook up in the car for some reason. It involves much splicing in the wiring leading to the taillights. A couple weeks ago, I had to yank my spare tire out (it was stuck) and I think I may have knocked something loose in that rat's nest of wires. I'll report back with results as soon as I get a chance to work on it.

I figured out the brake lights; fuse was blown .
Still don't have any reverse lights though, and the left signals still blink fast. I checked out the trailer wiring, I don't think it's part of the problem.
