A question about Wipers
I tried replacing my original switch with a "good when removed" switch. The switch that I replaced my original was worse than the orginal. It would not turn off the wipers at all (one speed).
I have replaced all three relays, and it seems to be working correctly (front, rear, intermitten, etc.). When turning the wipers off they do not return to "home". They simply stop. I am not 100% if there is any difference in speed between low and high. Do I need a new wiper motor, or another switch?

You'll need another switch.. At least yours works, mine only works on "I" lol!

New wiper motor. Check the park ciruit. You might be able to clean out the contacts on the park switch. it may come back to life.

Okay I think I may try a new motor, and if that doesn't fix it, then I'll source yet another switch.
Sooner or later I'll have a "new" old car. Replacing everything is getting old, as it surely slows down upgrades.

This may sound like a dumb comment but you might have damaged the switch circuitboard. What is happening to you seems similar to what happened to me when I tried to replace the relays in my old switch. I got too impatient and I ended up pulling out one or more of the "sleeves" in the circuitboard. The functionality was improved, but it still wasn't "fixed".

Yeah, I actually killed one of the two switches. Before starting to desolder the second one I broke down and purchased a desoldering iron that made life easy the second time around. I did not pull any of the copper pieces out of the board. I also soldered bases into the places for the small relays, making future replacement plug and play.

The small relays sit up a little higher than they did orginally, but they are swappable now.

The quest for more torque
|
The wipers park by continuing to run as long as they see a grounded signal from the park circuit. If this signal is not there, the wipers will stop immediately when you shut the switch off. It is possible that it is the switch, but I would guess that it is a bad connection in the wiper motor or in the harness.
