Should I get this FD for potential engine upgrade?
Just heard from someone that a guy he works with has an FD that's been in a fender bender. Car runs but the guy just wants rid of it as he's leaving the island in 5 months (he's military and so doesn't want the car anymore after he leaves). Is asking for $300 for the whole thing. Is it worth getting and then towing somewhere to rape parts off it (specifically the engine and related bits for a future swap) and then sell other bits to hopefully make a bit of money back? Or should I just pass on it. Car runs and everything so the motor's still good. Only bad thing when thinking about a full swap is that the FD in question is an automatic.

For that price, hell yea. So what if its auto, new ecu and used trans can fix that issue. Jump on it, even if you never do the swap, you could sell the shell with dammage (assuming its repairable) for more than 300

No pics at the moment unfortunately, but looking to get some. Would definitely not be keeping the car unless the repair was simple and cheap to do.
Would the fact that the car is an auto mean that when swapped into a manual FC I'd just need an FC ECU, or are there other parts needed?

No, you would need a fd ecu, harness and some mounts plus trans of you choice, but the swap should be a hell of alot cheaper and easier than a ls swap

I actually meant an FD manual ECU, but just hit keyboard without engaging brain. Apologies about that.
FD harness would be no problem as it'd come with the car, and I'd keep with the FC Tii drivetrain. Have got another FC mission on my balcony if anything goes bad anyway. And for the mounts my machine guy said he could make me a new crossmember as specified on FC3Spro with no problems.

You should be just fine then. Just inspect the rats nest and get a fd fsm.

The rear diff alone is worth $300.00 I dont see how you could go wrong, probably make $3-4k if you part it out.

The swap is a pain in the ass...even at that cheap price.
Unless you have welding and fabrication resources, it's not going to happen. No one that I know of offers a pre-fab adapter(s) for this swap. Previous adapters I've seen are poorly designed (see Evil Forum). It's worth more for an FD3S owner - so just resell the pieces back to them. It's temping to "upgrade" to the 13B-REW, but in the end, the 13BT will hit 90% of the same power levels without breaking a sweat, when set-up properly. It's just bragging rights to claim you're running a 13B-REW in your FC3S chassis. -Ted |

Definitely worth $300, you could probably salvage way more than $300 in selling the parts. Seats could be a nice addition to your FC.

Well the taking apart would probably have to be done over a full weekend, but is possible with some extra hands to help.
The seats would be a nice addition, although I've got an Infini seat on my driver's side. Could get an FD one for the passenger side though
