Yeah, I don't know how often the PO turned it (he said every 6 months), but I turned it every month using a squirt of MMO. Also, when Neal had it for that year and a half, I don't know if it was ever turned over. But yes, when I got the text from Charles, stating that the irons/housings were perfect, and the apex seals were in 'new' spec, I was quite happy.

So far, I am waiting on a couple things to be ready to go. I need to buy some fuel hose, my strut inserts haven't arrived yet (3/18), and my wheels won't be here for a couple more weeks. Also, this weekend I am cleaning the tank.

Waiting to be installed:

Front brake pads
Strut tops
Clutch slave/master
Brake master
Ball joints
Front and rear trans seals

Once the engine gets back here:

T-stat
Motor Mounts
New hoses (coolant/fuel)
S4 Alternator (ahem Robert)
Accel (I think) coils
Exedy Clutch

Then, its a matter of installing the radiator/oil cooler and hope for the best. I should order a fuel pump, but it looks new. I'm more concerned at this point in time with it running, rather than how it looks. Still need to 'tuck' the bumpers, and pick up a muffler (maybe).

I will probably have to do a driveway break in before DGRR. Lol.

The challenge to get it to DGRR was set by myself, and motivated by friends who want to see the car, and are not local. That is the reward.

You are assuming I care whether you go or not.

Worked on a few things yesterday, mostly involving cleaning the fuel system.

The tank had about 5-6 gallons of fuel in it......from 1999......

Filler neck, gas cap, and inside of the tank were all very crusty looking. So, I had some Evapo-Rust I had been playing with for a while for smaller parts, and it worked well.

Soaked the filler neck, cap and fuel level sender in it overnight. All came out minty clean and looking brand new. This stuff works awesome. It is expensive though, put I went ahead and ordered a 5 gallon bucket for the tank. All sealed up, I dumped 5 gallons into it, and have started the process of soaking/rotating/soaking/rotating. Sunday I will dump out the Evapo-Rust through a strainer, and then dump it back in and repeat the process.

Seriously, this stuff works. Adler and Charles were amazed when they saw the results of the filler neck.

Some other bonuses of it:
-no odor
-biodegradable
-non-toxic
-reusable (as it gets older, it just takes longer).

Other things done:
-new motor mounts installed
-new trans seals installed
-new clutch installed

The Cosmo lower ball joints are threaded in, not pressed. The SST for the job is NLA (of course). I've been trying to use a pipe wrench to crack them loose, but nearly pulled the car off the jackstands!!!!

This should be fun.

Oh, also ordered a new fuel pump, and all rubber brake hoses.

Heat hasn't helped.

These mother fucking ball joints.......

I guess I'm going to have to put the car back on the ground so I can get some leverage on them. With 4 corners on stands, I nearly had a major incident.......

Updates are as follows-

All parts needed have arrived, with the exception of the wheels, which should be here next week.

The front brake hoses I was sent are wrong. They are fine pitch, not coarse. The ones on the car still look good, but I'm trying to figure something out.

The rear end is back in it and ready to go.

The front struts require a special tool to take out the cartridges. Luckily, the service manager at my work used to be a machinist, so he is making me a tool.

The engine bay is in primer (mostly).

Trans is ready to go back in.

I took the oil cooler hoses to Patco to have them tested. They are good to go, so I don't need to have some made.

Since starting my new job, I haven't had a ton of time to work on it. But its getting there. Might not look pretty for DGRR, so it'll have that 'barn find' look, but be mechanically rebuilt.
