Default Eccentric shaft lock bolt removal

Help the newbie please! I've set the stage (photo upload failed - I'll try later) - prepped the area and scrounged every tool I could beg, borrow, or buy.

I've watched the videos I could find - I've read the FSM (which says to replace the Eccentric shaft lock bolt) - BUT...

Can someone please advise as to how to loosen this bolt? I tried an impact wrench to no avail. My guess is that its got threadlocker on it and that heat is the solution - but I'd rather hear from those who know BEFORE I screw up. If so - how high (propane/MAP/acetylene) & how long? If not, then what?

I'm kinda desperately wanting to see what the mice did while living inside. How they got there is another question as the car had a full exhaust attached.

Impact has yet to fail me, then again, she's huge. Maybe stuff it in the back of a car/truck and head down to a tire shop?

Many thanks for the responses! I also found a thread that ran last year in Rotary Resurrection's forum (memo to self - look first, then look harder, Grasshopper). I used my 1/2" drive impact wrench but was concerned about undue stress by going larger. Left/right-hand thread was also a question in my mind. I'll go to heat & my 3/4" drive impact wrench next and see what happens.

Oxy-Acetylene until the bolt head was cherry red & the 3/4" impact wrench did the trick! Thanks again.

Good job!

I remember the last time I had to take one off, I used an impact socket with a makeshift 6 foot breaker bar!

Works everytime (the first time!!!)

Haha, exactly. It's either lots of heat and an impact or hanging off of an 8 foot breaker bar.
