Power Steering leak and oil leak...UPDATE!

The leak coming from power steering...

The oil leak....

I'm pretty sure the power steering leak is that swelled up soaked hose. Can I get a replacement from Malloy? How much?
The oil leak might be a broken nipple on the oil filler neck...I'm not sure. I was just trying diagnose the spots that were showing up on the pavement and it lead to these. I'm almost positive my oil pan is leaking also...(no pics) The only thing about my oil leaks is when I check the dip stick it reads full....weird. I'm about to purchase Garfinkles oil pan brace within the next week or so for the major leak. The small leak in the pic has not leaked much oil on the ground, but I can see some oil on the hoses below it and on the subframe, so I want to get it fixed.

Another question.....what is this wire?

It's connected to the yellow wire in the background. It's dangling right near the subframe. I was changing out the plugs last week and noticed it there...I also noticed (no pic, didn't have the car on the lift) there is a green wire coming from the engine harness...just a lone green stripped wire near the plugs. There is no wire's leading to the oil level sensor in the pan....so I'm thinking maybe this is the wire that goes to it?

Any help/comments would be much apprenticed.

Consider that the 'oil' leak might be P/S fluid being blown back toward the firewall.

Getting a dye kit and using it to diagnose the oil leaks might be a good idea.

Get the motor hot first, put the dye in, and let it run for a few minutes in place.

If you have a leak, and drive the car, the oil can get blown all over the place, negating the effect of the dye.

Usually its the short 2 inch or so hose that goes between the pump and reservoir. A new one should be about $8 from Mazda. Don't use a regular hose. Also change the clamps. The Mazda clamps don't work and always leak. The connector is for the AC. The opposite end should be on the body harness.

Thanks! I'll prolly go pick up the hose on monday and get some clamps from home depot. I'm definitely picking up an oil pan brace asap. At first I thought my turbos might be leaking BADLY, but after inspecting them and my intake everything seems normal. There is like wayyy too much oil around the entire oil pan. I'm going to pick up dye kit tomarrow just to make sure.

Well I got the power steering leak fixed. Ordered the little 2 inch hose from Ray the other day and got it put on today. Here's some pictures of the bad hose.

I'm thinking someone tried to fix this before with a different clamp and that didn't help the jacked up hose at all. Is the clamp to the right a Mazda clamp?....Weird shit.... anyways...I'm working on the oil pan leak. I ordered a oil pan brace from Banzai and I've got the subframe off and cleaned up a little today...

I wanted to to this right and get the subframe off and having all the room I need to take the pan off and clean everything up. I'm doing this all back in NC at my appartment on jacks ....I'm soo spoiled when I'm at Fort Campbell and I have a bay with a lift and all the special tools I "could" have used Anyways here is how she's sitting right now...

Keep in mind I still have the pan on and the big oil spot on the ground is from over a 5 day period ....tomorrow I'm planning on draining the oil and taking off the pan and cleaning everything up. Updates and more pictures to follow...

Wow. Now that is a leak. Might want to check if you are leaking from the OMP or front cover gasket while you are down there (assuming you haven't checked already).

I like the wheel locks you have there...j/k. I have the same problem with oil pan/front cover leak and I have yet to fix it. I'm too lazy to fix it. I can't decide if it would be easier to pull the motor or drop the subframe. Yeah, like what the previous poster said, definitely check the front cover gasket and the omp gasket. You don't want to find out after the subframe is back on the car that you have to get to the omp or your original leak is from the front cover.

Sorry for no updates. I got the oil pan brace on while I was on leave, about 4 days after I got my subframe off. I considered the omp or front cover also, but everything that I saw pointed back to the oil pan. While I was taking off my oil pan though I noticed a few things....one, the damn engine mount bolts were not tight at all and two, there was a SHIT LOAD of RTV that was used with the stock gasket . After getting everything back together I let her sit for 2 days before I put oil back in a started her up. It's been about over a week now and NO MORE LEAKS!!! Dry concrete everywhere I park . Now all I need to do is fix my damn boost leak!

Glad to hear it man. I'm back and floating around Campbell a little. I'll either be in my SSM or MB car.
