Default Aluminum Manual Steering Rack w/ quick ratio steering box

Is anyone interested in getting a aluminum manual steering rack w/ quick ratio steering box? I think I'm going to get one for my circuit car, and wanted to see if anyone else is interested, so that we can get some sort of group buy price.

It's about $1000 + s & h + import duties for one person. Maybe cheaper the more we get.

It saves about 20lbs from a stock converted manual rack, and is made of billet aluminum, so the box rusting won't be a big issue.

It is made from billet, and is a manual rack. It is a lot smoother than the standard rack so although it will require more obvious effort than a P/S rack, it will be a lot more efficient due to the nature of the way the gears are made than converting a standard rack.

It will save you approximately 8.5kgs over the standard setup, and tidies the engine bay dramatically.

I have quickened up the rack from 3 turns lock to lock to 2.4 turns. This was to get the best compromise between fighting to get the lock on when catching a slide, and being too skittish arising to over compensation.

We are currently in the process of manufacturing a number of LHD units, and we have already had a number of enquiries about these.

The unit price is £690 + P&P + VAT

Many thanks again for the enquiry

I'd be interested. This is something I've been pondering lately. From the description it sounds like they already make RHD racks for the FD?

Yes, RHD racks are already made. 2 more weeks and the LHD version will be finished.
Are you looking for the LHD or RHD trout? Good news is we can sell our p/s racks, and make a little money.

If you guys can list your zip codes, that should help me out a lot. Also, I'll see if it's cheaper to ship to one place here, then from there to all of us in the U.S. as they are located in the UK. We should be able to save on import duties Shipping as one package.

Looks like we got the 5 we need. I'll leave the last person unnamed until he makes his mind up for sure, but we should be set to go.

I'll be pming each of you shortly for more contact info. He's going to contact you guys each individually to make it easier on his end.

Also, I asked for the zip codes because I wanted to see if one of us was at a central place to ship to first, and then from there to the other states, so we can split the import duties if they are expensive.

If wanted, I'll see if my dad feels like taking care of getting the stuff shipped to him first in Pittsburgh, PA then off to us after that. I'm in California, so coming to me first would be dumb, since the rest of you are on the East coast.

Also, he's asking for a 50% deposit, so we're looking at $450 up front. I'm sure he can answer any other questions you guys have along the lines of payment, since I have nothing to do with that. Just trying to hook us all up with some nice parts w/ a discount.

I bought the first LHD rack and had to send Jon my rack to be sure the alignment was correct, since the RHD version has to clear a different set of obstacles. Its a beautiful piece. Jon will be over here for the CARLISI CRUISE & BBQ event at my place this August 15th. He's bringing a few of his beautiful billet 6 pot big brake kits in 13 and 14 inch diameters. These are as nicely made as the rack.

Hey guys, I just emailed Jon Reeves over at Atomic Rex Ltd., so you should be getting an email from him pretty soon.

Thanks again to everyone for getting in on the group buy, and saving us all some money.

From the looks of it, is it possible to have the rack mounts machined in to the rack making it a solid mount rack?

The reason i ask if this can be done to have the mounts machined in the rack and leave the top of the rack flush meaning 1 straight tube. It will work great for people that are running 3 and 4 rotor applications.
You get less bump steer correction issues and at most no bump steer at all, meaning less height clearance between the oil pan and rack les you have to lower the steering rack to clear the pan. He might hit a more broader customer base considering that is helps with these type of applications 3-4 rotor and piston swaps.
In my situation that will be great 3 rotor swap. Can you talk to Atomic and see if its an option?
