Have you ever replaced the ignition keyhole light? Mine is burnt out and it appears to be hardwired in.

to the best of my knowledge, both the ignition keyhole light and the drivers door keyhole light are hard wired LEDs. Nothing a quick cut and a little soldering won't take care of. Baja posted a great writeup on replacing the drivers door keyhole light on the evil forum. I'd quote it, but with the threat of lawsuits now, I'm not going to bother.

The door lock light is only on the driver's side. It comes on for about 3 minutes when you lift the handle. It is easy to fix, you simply remove the plastic cover at the rear of the inside door directly opposite the handle, take off the 10mm nuts and lift the handle assembly off from the outside, you will only be able to get it a short distance from the door as all the cables/rods will be attached. But...you will see two white wires going into a rubber cavity. If you look hard this rubber cavity is actually a rubber plug that goes into a rubber cavity. Over here I go to Radio Shack and get a 12 volt 'grain of wheat' bulb. They have various colours. One that I got was cool as hell, it had two small pieces of heat-shrink tubing included. Anyway, just cut the leads as close to the bulb, slide some appropriate sized heat shrink tubing over the leads a ways back to give you some room, solder in the new leads, slide the heat shrink tubing up and apply some heat and, voila! Now just put the bulb in the rubber tube thingy, and...this is the fun part....slide the tube back into the cavity. It helps to apply some sort of lube, I went with a silicone based stuff I use on 'O' rings and it slid right in.
