I've been busy all summer, but the car is together and running well! Loving the twin 36 dcd carbs on this engine. They got rid of a lot of the herky jerky low end drivability issues. Much smoother, more low end torque, and scream with the secondaries opened lol.

Thanks! Funny you ask, I was just about to post about that. The 4 is out of storage for the summer, and due to a cancellation at work it went straight on the dyno. Started at a baseline of 182 rwhp and with some jet changes and other minor tweaks this was the end result. I'm pretty pleased, I hit my goal with this engine setup. I'll take some new pictures to post once it has a good wash and detail for the season.

I dropped off the car to Joe at classic auto last weekend to get some minor body repairs done before winter. Then the work will begin for dgrr 2017. I need to rebuild the rear diff, swap in the 5 speed, fix a few other minor things. Stay tuned!

How is Joe?

I haven't seen or heard from him in a LONG time. Pretty much since his epic journey to DGRR, then on to Florida and back.

He is doing good. He is planning on getting at his fc again this winter so hopefully we will see him back soon.

Picked my car up from Joe this past Sunday. He did a great job as always! Car is now at my work in it's long term bay for the winter. I took my SA transmission to the local trans shop to have it all gone over before I swap it into the car. Started trying to figure out how I can bring the front of the car up about 1 or 1.5 inches. Kind of sick of having my exhaust hit the pavement everywhere lol. Also need to make room for some new wheels and rubber! Stay tuned for pics!

That's the plan. The dgrr trip is in the works for this spring and the rx4 should be good to go.

So its looking like the rx4 isn't going to make it to dgrr. Having some issue with the oil pressure. When it's cold it works great 100psi+ of oil pressure at 3000rpm. When engine temp hits just below 150 degrees Fahrenheit oil pressure randomly drops almost to nothing for a split second and then slowly comes back up. After that I can only manage about 85 to 90 psi max oil pressure. I've replaced the sender for my gauge, front cover o ring, rear oil regulator (fd regulator), front regulator spring shimmed 1/8", and oil cooler thermostat and spring. Guess the FC will make the trip instead this year.

It's been a long time since I updated these. I didn't take the rx4 to deals gap in april. Just ran out of time to work out the bugs. I had to jet the carbs differently because of the new fuel system changes. Also, after a trip to the drag strip I had to build different throtttle linkages. The old ones kept breaking on me. Got the car down in the 14's though at 95 mph. Also have a coilover spring setup for the front to install. Otherwise the car ran flawless all summer. The time has come to sell it though sadly. It will likely find a new owner in the spring.
