All parts are back from paint (nose, headlight covers and hood) so I just did a quick mockup without bolting everything back down, hence the fender-to-nose seam gap. However, this will give everyone an idea on how it will look...
Engine build to come back next week.... |

Hood looks great, but I just never have liked the stock front bumpers on the 93-98 FDs. Maybe a 99+ bumper would help set it off a little more.

I hear what you're saying and I appreciate the input. Believe me, I went back on forth on whether to keep the stock front end or go '99 spec, but in the end, I wanted a look that was truer to the original U.S. spec CYM, with some J-spec flair. It's just a matter of taste, and for now I'm going to try out this look for awhile!

OK fc guy in the FD world... lol
I dont want to say the wrong thing but my .02 is this.. I never liked that style hood, and painting carbon fiber IMO usually never seems to be worth it (especially if u have a stock alum hood and goign to carbon fiber normally u dont gain much but looks) On your car.. (since that is what we are talking about) I LOVE IT.. it looks real good, the hood after being painted looks MUCH BETTER KUDOS TO YOU SIR!!! Looks great and thx for sharing.. u have alot of patience for waiting 8mo though ![]() btw that hood on an FC.. I never liked.. |

Its looking very good Tim! Makes me think maybe I should paint my hood soon.
With a vented hood you indeed do gain alot. Maybe only a pound of weight but oh so much is the cooling improved.

yeah this is true.. cooling is improved is if the hood is vented well. however with the drip tray on I cant see how this hood will be really all that extra effective at cooling with those little slots in it.

Nice hood man, painful wait time, but doesn't matter now that you have it. I would've left it carbon fiber with just a clear coat, but it looks good either way.

Looks great. Fitment actually looks better than most pics I've seen. How is fitment in person?
Good choice on sticking with the 93-95 front bumper. I think its the best looking option out there. |

As others have mentioned, cooling is the main benefit. I took data with my old "RotaryExtreme" AD9 hood and compared to the stock hood, I saw an average 3 to 5C drop in engine operating temps. That makes a big difference here in Phoenix duing the summertime. To Slow... awesome kit. Would like to see more detailed pics of that motor?? |
