RB Swaybar Install
So after having a busted passenger front end link for over a month now (dont worry, the car hardly gets driven) I was finally able to get the parts to fix it.
In true WE3RX7 fashion, I couldn't JUST fix the end link, so I ordered a new bar to go with it. I got it from www.goodwinracing.com as they were having a sale on RB front sways. I got the bar and the new end links. The install is pretty basic. I find it easier on an FC as the 8 just has more "stuff" in the way in the engine bay, but not a big deal. 1. Removed/inspected parts (I had my professional parts sniffer check them out) 2. Made appropriate adjustments with the supplied drill bit. The RB end links are large and thus you have to drill out the bar and your control arm to fit. 3. Touched up the drilled areas w/ factory mazda tribute paint (lol, had some left over) to prevent corrosion/rust as much as I could. 4. Remove old busted endlinks and bar 5. Install new bar If my car didn't start its life out in Massachusetts, it'd been a MUCH quicker job. Unfortunately though, EVERY bolt is corroded to hell and took much longer to get off! Either way, I'm VERY happy with the results. Its like new again - but better. Corners extremely flat, and honestly compliments the rear sway just fine. I might upgrade the rear later, but it solved some of the understeer issues the 8 has and is allowing a lot more confidence to carry speed into a corner Last edited by WE3RX7; 02-04-2009 at 11:48 PM.. |
