Pony up bitches.
If you got the car that cheap, you can probably flip it without putting another dime into it and still turn a profit. Even though you said you have cash budgeted to finish the Cosmo, flipping it will get you a little extra "management reserve" to play with.

I put a feeler for it on facespace to see what it would pull, throwing $1000 out there as a price. Had a bunch of people all over it, but the questions were like a broken record.

Random Bro- Does it run?

Me-It needs either an AFM or Fuel pump. Haven't looked into it further because I don't care at this point in time.

Random Bro- Do you have the parts to fix it?

Me- Yes.

Random Bro- If you get it running I'll come down and buy it now.

Me- I'm not touching it if you want it for $1000. However, I will throw in a Phillips screwdriver, so you can replace those parts and hope for the best.

Random Bro- So how much for it if you get it running?

Me- Meh, $1500.

Random Bro- Let me know when you get it running and I'll buy it.

So, in other words, you don't know shit about these cars, and are willing to pay $500 extra for 10 minutes of work? I don't want to sell it to these types of people. And if I sell it locally, it will be more of the same.

It's an '86, so it can be tagged as antique, which requires no emissions test, and no annual renewal, ever. Insurance is like $18/mo.

^This sounds like the typical Craigslist buyer, always a time-wasting PITA. Still, you can probably market this to another rotor head via the forums and turn a little profit, or tailor your ads on the general market towards someone who's mechanically inclined looking for a cheap project car.
