Whizbang's GSLSE
picked this up for a few hundred since the audi is being sold. ran rough, didnt want to start unless i poured gas on the filter, and had some low oil pressure. The engine is an S4 motor, recently swapped, and poorly. moving the distributor didnt change anything. sounds different than a one rotor situation, engine had even strong "poofs", and it has no power.
i think the low oil pressure is the front cover o-ring going to be taking a peek here this week. I got all the S4 ecu, wiring, and sensor bits to just run the S4 stuff in an attempt to get the car running right. Began the process of making the S4 wiring harness ready for install... (hence the pile of wiring)

well, trying to find an M12x1.5 bolt about 150mm long is completely impossible without waiting a week for two silly bolts. In leiu of doing that, im justing going to use an SAE equivalent. Not like you really need to drop subframes all the time.
So with that, today I should have the FC subframe installed. Just need to remove the rear studs, drill, and weld in the new stubs. Then viola!

so... by using the fc crossmember, you can use the fc's rack n pinion? I'd do this to my beige se if I could use it.

FC struts. Then either FB tops with FB springs, OR FC coilovers (and top hats) by just widening the opening a wee little bit.
there will be pics

concerning the steering column,do you combine the fc's wiring and the fb's to make it work? i'm assuming the fb column won't work with the fc rack? i have lots of questions.

well I have some bad news bears:
I was cleaning the front cover to put back on then right about when i was done, I noticed a semi-circular chunk ground out of the inside.... uh oh. following Ted's comments about bearings and the nature of e-shafts to migrate I walked over to the motor. The front counter weight had a nice polished around on the edge, like it had been hitting something... uh oh. but she still turned by hand nicely and I couldn't get any play by hand. So i used a small prybar between the counterweight and the front iron. And the whole shebang moved about 3/4"... oh uh... scratch that.... FUCK! at least that explains why the rear main seal was compromised. So yea. car needs an engine... all because some fuckwad didn't torque the wee bolt holding the oil pickup properly and it basically came loose.
