Oil pressure at idle?
While driving my car the other day I was stopped at a red light and noticed my oil pressure seemed to be really low, like right below the 30 mark. Once I started moving again and had it a little higher in the RPM range it seemed like it picked right up. Does anyone know what the oil pressure should be at idle? Im running a mostly stock setup so none of my mods should make a difference Im thinking.

25-40 is ok for idle, it all depends on what weight oil you're running. Also I wouldn't trust the stock Mazda oil pressure sending unit, it's known to fail.

After reading all this I think Im gonna get an aftermarket gauge here soon. Luckily a guy I work with is parting out one of his race cars so Im gonna try and scoop some of his gauges.

I would agree a good aftermarket gauge will help. That said, my stock gauge ('86) is pretty much dead on with my aftermarket gauge.
