I may have found something special in Canada...
Hello everyone. I am an amature car collector in Canada that may have stumbled on a "barn find" that I cannot find anything on the web. Hopefully someone on this forum can help me?
The car is what I know to be an RX7. The owner says it is 1982, but I think by the rear window vent trim that it is 1984. The car is a "wide body" that the owner says is factory original done in collaboration with Porche. Looking quickly at the car, I can say that if it is a "body kit", it is the best I have seen. I am being told by the owner that this is 1 of 100 of these cars that were made in collaboration with Porche. Can anyone out there either confirm that these cars were built (this "100 limited edition cars"), or maybe I am looking at a very high end "body kit" that is 20+ years old? - The rear suspension, and all I took a quick look at seem to fit the actual build of the car. The paint looks original (with some issues) the colour (sorry color) is gold and black. Looks very similar to some of the track race cars I have seen on the web, but very little is there for info. I have a bunch of work to do with this guy, and can get pictures if this is a real find? Cheers!! Mike. |

I'm not aware of any Mazda collaboration efforts with Porsche, so I think this is probably just a regular RX7 from that era with a body kit. This guy's story doesn't pass the giggle test - why would Mazda want to collaborate with a competitor?
That said, it still might be a nice find but I'd be very skeptical about the car's collector value. Ask the guy for documentation of the car's history & pedigree - trust but verify! Lots of pictures would help the folks here identify what you're looking at. |

as stated, probably an IMSA kit of the area, which looks 944 ish.
