Used TII diff Vs rebuilding one??
So the bearings on my S4 diff are going, I have had a lot of feedback stating the same cause of bad bearings. I could have it rebuilt for around $500 quessament, or buy a used one for $200. However the new one is has no stub axles. So how can I tell the difference between S4, S4.5 and S5 without the stub axles. And it is worth the risk to buy a used Diff without stub axle yet alone a used one. How hard is it to find good used Stub shafts. Thanks in advance.

I only know that the clutch-type LSD runs equal length stub axles versus the viscous-type LSD requiring unequal length stub axles.
Only way to confirm this is to break open the diff case... What's the difference with the "4.5"? -Ted |
