Default Body seam caulk/sealant

I'm currently prepping my engine bay for paint, and in the process of wire-wheeling all kinds of tar and rust and road grime, etc, I'm finding that I'm also removing portions of the caulk sealing the seams between panels in the engine bay. What type of sealant should I use to replace the missing portions? Is it something I could get at Autozone/Murray's/etc, or would I have to go to a specialty 'body stuff' place?

You should go to a local paint/ autobody store and get some seam sealer. vatozone and such i dont think sells it. If you want your engine bay to look clean caulked, there is a few tricks you can do. Most seam sealr is white or tan.

i would just go pick up a tube of seam sealer and use that if youre at all concerned with keeping it looking clean and factory.

I don't recommend this, as most people would mess it up.
Also, it's basically a permanent modification, and if you need to take things apart, you're screwed.

ANY shop that deals with paint and auto body supplies can help you with this.
Also, check out Eastwood online for these type of supplies if you're inclined to mail order.
3M offers a very good product that most people can purchase.

we used to be able to find a 3M seam sealer locally. i'm sorry i don't have more detail, but its used to come in a white tube. 3M has a white and a black color, and the white is a really close match to what mazda used

oh that was easy, try this http://3mcollision.com/3m-fast-n-fir...oreInfoDetails

i think we used to just get it at a paint store, and not the regular hardware store, but maybe the hardwarestore had it too?
