Dude, our engine bays are going to look almost identical LOL. I just had all my stuff either powder coated, ceramic coated, anodized or done in black oxide. Great idea LOL. Let me know if you have problems with the CAS reading the trigger wheel though. I got that done in black oxide so it's still very magnetic but I was curious about powder coat on it.

nice build! id be careful with powder coating the cap... putting it in the oven might mess up the rubber seal and cause leaking...

Ha, It does seem our cars are going to look pretty damn close! I was going to powder coat the end tanks on my intercooler black as well, but decided that would be a project to do later on.
I actually read your post pertaining to the wheel during the time it was being powder coated. Like you, my concern was how the triggers were going to pick up the wheel. But since parts are being recoated, that original (or in my case realllllllly tarnished/ non existent) green coating are being sandblasted off, I don't know if matters much. I read in your thread a couple of guys either painting or powder coating the wheel and then sanding on the back side a little with no problems what so ever. I was told by our powder coater that the thickness of the coat is 001" thick. But I'll probably just sand the back to be safe too.

I inquired about the same thing, but I was assured this was a non issue. He has done this many times and tested it on his Lotus with no problems. Our local powder coater is phenominal, so good in fact he can powder wood and plastic haha. Seriously

I just thought about this, if the wheel needs to be magnetic why couldn't a person just paint it with the magnetic black paint from lowes? Sounds chincy but it would work.

No the wheel isn't magnetic, but the crank angle sensors are, and it just reads off the steel wheel. If it's only .001" thick I doubt you'd have a problem, but I'd still sand it just to be sure too haha.

I did get my IC end tanks powdercoated too haha, and also the sides of it too. Everything but the fins themselves.

Ok good, I'm glad my thinking was correct. How do you like your cj motorsports fuel kit? I take it you bought the primary and secondary one? And chances are you bought the black rails like I plan on doing huh ;-)

I really like the fuel kit, it's nice and sturdy. The only problem I ever had was using it with my GZ equal length LIM. When bolted together, the mounting bolt for the front end of the secondary rail would press against the fuel hose fitting going to the front end of the primary rail. Since they both move together with the engine and not against each other, I didn't mess with it for a while. But several months ago I had a spacer waterjetted and have a gasket on each side of that for the LIM to block, and it fixed the problem.

Sadly no, I didn't see black rails as an option back when I bought mine, I think they came out with those later. So I might have to sell my rails and get some black ones haha. Back when I bought mine, I bought all but the injectors and FPR.

Well what do we have here?! Gregg and I finally had some time to stab the motor in the FD this week. And let me tell you what a relief it is! The powder coating that our local guy did turned out great! Can't recommend him enough. The UIM looks freaking amazing in pictures and I can't wait to show you guys when I pick it up today. Here some more pics of the build:




































So there she sits back at home now. Still have some more stuff to do obviously, but I really like the where the coil packs sit now. Nice to be up and out of the way. Thanks again Garfinkle
I have to order a few more odds and ends tomorrow from ray, then finish relocating the battery, as well as having a couple of IC piping welded up. Hopefully this weekend I'll have her fired up!
