Default Former SRT guy looking for a first rotary

Hi guys,

I've been on the SRtforums for a long time, and more recently RX7 club, and I figured i'd try here since it was recommended to me by Jim from Rotarydynamics.ca

I'm currently in the market for a nice clean 7, but as I've waited this long, i'm taking my time to find the right car for the right price. Might have found it. I'll update you guys when / if it goes through.

Matt

I'm looking for a nice FD. I think i may have found one.. just a matter of selling the wife on the idea of the mistress

Personally i think it's manageable.. she's financially conservative, and it's tough to convince her of the logic behind buying an FD... besides the fact that it will test my budgeting abilities to keep the sucker on the road, more than likely.

The mistress is a hard sell. I bought my FD before I met my wife and occasionally she will refer to the FD as "the bitch in the carport".

For us young poor college kids, our wives/girlfriends refer to our FC's that way. It just isn't "in the carport," it's "in the apartment parking lot." But my girlfriend is cool about it... she knows which lady was in my life first.

These people usually end up becoming: "Young, formally owned FD but crashed it into a tree and now I'm broke, FD owners."

Nothing really, but most young kids can't get a $14k loan on a 15 year old car and most that have that kinda cash are richs kids who really just wreck shit...but the few who work hard for that cash will be good FD owners.

i was kinda young when i owned my FD, and i had to work really hard to get it. saved for 4 years. it was worth it and when i sold it it made a little money on it too . if you are planning on making the fd your first rotary i would really do some research. i have seen many time the same story. someone wants an fd so they buy one, don't really know what they are getting into, it has a bunch of little problems that they don't know how to fix and neither dies a mechanic and then they end up selling the car a month after they got it.

well, i'm not exactly a kid anymore, i don't think. 29, high school music teacher, and with some mechanical aptitude and a willingness to learn. I think i'll do alright. I just have to make friends with the right people

I've wanted an FD rx7 since they first hit the streets... went on my first test drive in one about 10 years ago, and i was sold. I just couldn't come up with the money, starting university at the time.

So far JDK has been a great source of information and support, as well as various web forums.
