Scavenge pump location
Wasn't too sure where to put this:
I'm getting ready to mount up my scavenge pump that I haven't installed in about a year and would like some input. If you check out my build thread you'll notice that I have two holes drilled and prepped for bulk head fittings. My original plan was to mount the scavenge pump (for those curious it's this one: http://turbowerx.com/Scavenge_Pumps/.../Exa-Pump.html) in the front of the radiator and plumb the turbo system such that the hard line goes straight down, follows the frame rail, the comes back up to the bulk head fittings. From there it goes to the pump and back out the other fitting, back down the frame rail, and into the oil pan. The reason for this is because I had some issues when I first turbo'd the car. The oil return line kept melting so I put in some plumbing pipe and it couldn't be oriented correctly and be leak proof. I also ran into issue with the oil foaming back up the line in the first go around. As such and in an attempt to keep oil from going out the exhaust seals I would like to know if I mount the pump away from the turbo drain will it be able to pull the oil and function properly, or is it better to mount the pump closer to the turbo and lower? From what I can tell from the pump's website it should be able to pump the system without issue no matter the location of the pump. Thoughts? Suggestions?
