				webber or holley

im in the process of pulling my turbo motor and putting my NA "race" motor in. im also switching to carb. but i cant decide between a holley or webber style carb. im looking for some pros and cons here on both. i will not be doing the tuning, so thats not a deciding factor. also the cost between the both will be about the same after modding the holley for drag racing vs. basically stock race ready webbers. this is for a quartermile drag car.

Have you considered a Sterling carb? Great performance, and it uses the stock intake manifold so there's a substantial cost reduction. Going cost is around 400.00 He should be able to put together a monster carb for you for drag racing. Check out his site when you get a minute, lots of information there. www.sterlingmetalworks.com .

It doesn't use his stock intake. He'd have to get an RB Holley manifold and adapt the Sterling to that. It's probably also not nearly big enough for him depending on his porting. For drag racing, either should work. Holleys are progressive, which might be helpful for launches? (Not a drag racing guy, so I don't really know.) They also have a big aftermarket. Webers are simpler and easier to tune IMO, but you say that's not an issue for you. I do see a lot more Webers/Bergs on high-powered NA rotaries than Holleys, but that could just be because they're peripheral-ported.

i think im going to go with the holley since i already have a JW performance holley style manifold. and with all the available aftermarket parts, i think it will be just fine.
