Default Greddy vs Godspeed FMIC

Looking for owners of this two FMIC:

Can they be installed without removing the plastic (heavy) bumper?

I need to get my project running, and the air-liquid idea went out the window (long freaking story)

Not true!

I have an FMIC and my bumper is fully intact (minus some modifications to the bumper skin).

Are you using a custom FMIC, or a off the shelf?

I know that somebody manage to use the greddy with the stock bumper, but it was sooooo long ago...

Maybe it was CYMFC3s, but his site is long gone

I'm using the greddy with the stock bumper and I didn't hack it up like all the ones you see. I could get pics for you if you want.

If you're trying to use one of those 600mm x 300mm (24" x 12") FMIC kits, then the front bumper skin has to be removed for installation.
These mimic the current FMIC kits (V-spec / R-spec) from GReddy / Trust.
I'm talking about the kits that run pipes from both sides of the engine bay.
The earlier GReddy / Trust FMIC kits ran the pipes only from the passenger side (US-spec) of the engine bay.

There is a way to install one of those big honkin' IC cores up front that doesn't require removing the front bumper, but it's more involved.
You need to relocate the battery and reposition the radiator...

is there really a point in a 24" intercooler when running close to stock power?

People tell me I should get an FMIC because it is "Supposedly" more consistent....

I feel like that does not matter at my power level.

A small front mount is just fine for a decent amount of power. With a mostly stock car, a fmic should give you a few gains, but nothing major.

But a boost hungry, T66 running beast, that'd need more haha

Yup, I am talking about the "newer" style. I can see relocating the battery, but repositioning the radiator? Man, are you keeping secrets from us? LOL!

On that note, I found a precision turbo liquid intercooler that might fit my needs. Hmm, decisions, decisions

Essentially:

Any KIT installed the way they want it will remove the rebar (plastic support). Aside from the oldschool greddy kit, and I believe corksports.

Anything installed the way YOU want it will go..........whereever you want it

True, but I've been looking at the godspeed pics, and it looks like the intercooler sits right on top of the rebar mounts:


If I go this route, I need something that "bolts in" and keeps the rebar. I can work around installing the intercooler, but have no desire of re-engeneering the pipes.

Buy a smaller (less tall) core?
Install core ahead of rad?
Buy a water to air?
Run AI?



There's no real purchase option. Although IIRC, the corksport kit doesn't remove the rebar, but Ive never seen one in person to judge quality etc. But that's likely the best candidate for a bolt in package that does what you want. Only other way is custom custom custom.

Already did that, but doing the piping without cutting chunks of metal is pretty much impossible.

I am not convinced by the corksport intercooler. I guess I am crying to much, and should just go the custom route
