(they apparently got a hood that should have never made it past QA, if they ever had one, so they're going to combine the vents and with an OEM hood and make a mold from that instead).

This is exactly what happened with Shine Auto's vented FC hood, they had to mold the vent to a stock metal hood because the JDM hood they recieved to make the mold was just too shitty.

They ended up with a real high quality product this way, fits like OEM.
