Default FS 1989 Competley restored RX7 Turbo Conversion GOTTA SEE

I have for sale my work over the last 2 years. I completely restored this 89 RX7 GTU to new condition. After countless hours of work and over $12,000.00 worth of parts, I must sell this work of art. I originally bought it to restore it for my 16 year old son. After we spent a ton of time on it, I realized that it might not be the best car for him to drive as a 16 year old. I owned an 89 GTU new and wanted to restore this car and keep it for a fun car. Financial circumstances now dictate that I sell my baby. I did all of the following things to the car. We literally striped it down to the chassis and removed every single component including the suspension and interior. I restored this car the right way. I am an engineer, and it seems to be the only way I can do things. I am very meticulous. I have many more pictures of this car that I do not have room to post here including the restoration process. If you have any questions, as I am sure that I forgot to list something here, please do not hesitate to e-mail me. Serious inquiries only. I will not sell the car for less than the reserve price of $8000.00. I really don't want to sell it anyway and only will if it is worth it to me. This car is worth every penny. It is rebuilt from the ground up including engine AND transmission. Take a look. The car has less than 100 miles on it after the restoration.

New front windshield

Conversion to electric windows. Rebuilt the mechanisms and re-greased and cleaned then.

Put in new inside side window sweeps.

Sandblasted and re-coated the outside window trim on the sides and front with black rubberized paint

Pulled the skin off of the door on both sides, cleaned the rust from between the skin and the shell of the door, placed rust inhibitor between them, re-caulked and re-crimped for a good rust free new seal.

Stripped off rust proofing/chip resistant paint on the outside bottom of each door, quarter panel and front fenders on the outside and re-coated with truck bed liner coating and re-painted.

Removed all interior from car inclusive of dash-board, seats, carpets, essentially we stripped the car down to the bare shell. Removed the suspension, engine and transmission and rear end to clean, re-undercoat and sound deaden under carriage of car.

Replaced rear end of car with JDM limited slip differential (clutch type….better for drifting if you are so inclined)

Brand new half shafts from differential to rear wheels.

Brand new rear calipers, rotors and pads

Upgraded front wheel calipers to Turbo 4 piston model, rebuilt with new piston kit, stripped and cleaned them and painted with caliper paint to match the car.

New Front Rotors and pads

Brand new Enkei Wheels all around with brand new tires. Wheels and tires have less than 100 miles on them.

Replaced front seats with leather seats from a turbo and upgraded door panels to leather panels to match from the same car that the seats came from.

The seats have NO TEARS in them. Take a look at the pictures.

Brand new Carbon Fiber shift knob from MOMO

New MOMO shift boot

New MOMO Corse steering wheel with horn kit.

JDM 5 speed transmission. Transmission was rebuilt and has less than 100 miles on it. I have the receipt for the rebuild.

New Drive shaft

New Clutch and pressure plate and throw out bearing

New wheel bearings on all wheels.

Brand new shocks on rear and new struts in front of car.

New rear bushings in entire rear end of car.

Engine is a JDM motor with less than 100 miles on it. I bought a JDM motor to place in it and it threw the apex seals right away on starting. So I replaced the rotor housings, sent the rotors to Atkins Rotary and had them mill out the apex seals for 3mm seals. Engine has been re-built less than 100 miles ago with all new apex seals, seals and oil seals.

Installed Brand New Oil Pump ( I wanted to make sure that everything was good with a fresh rebuild.)

Replaced the Oil Metering Pump

Replaced all hoses and belts on the engine with new.

Polished the alternator and painted red on the fins

Had the radiator and the oil cooler boiled out and pressure tested.

Replaced front CAT with 3” down pipe and installed a quad tip Monza duel exhaust. Sounds great without too much noise.

Replaced Air Flow Meter with New one

Replaced Pressure sensor

Replaced ECU and Harness with Turbo II. I used a US Spec ECU and harness.

Brand new insides to the power antennae

Brand New Professional Paint job. They Painted and wet sanded and buffed after complete. Paint professionally done. When we had the engine and all components removed from the car, we cleaned and painted the entire engine compartment to match the car as well as the door jambs, door sills and rear inside deck at glass.

Stripped and re-painted and clear coated black paint around rear window (inside and out)

While interior was out of the car, I installed double sound deadening on all interior surfaces including the inside of the doors. This gives the car a very very solid feel.

Power washed, repaired any rust and re-undercoated the entire underside of the car. Even above the rear differential while everything was off of the car.

Installed brand new gauge pod on the A-pillar with boost gauge and Oil temperature gauge.

Converted gauge cluster to turbo cluster

Installed new Light Switch

Cruise control switch is installed, but cruise control unit is not.

Replaced Dummy lights surround on dash with brand new plastic surround from Mazda. These typically get brittle and break.

Replaced the defroster vents on top of dash with brand new ones from Mazda. These also are know to get trashed.

Replaced triangle covers on power mirrors with new ones

Replaced triangle vents at each side on the top of the dash with Brand New ones from Mazda

Brand New Stereo. Alpine system with 20 amp alpine amp. Used infinity speakers all around. I have not even had time to tune this stereo to my own tastes with the amp. It has six speakers in all. All Stereo Components are NEW.

New Carpet

Removed, cleaned and re-greased the sun-roof. It still sticks sometimes opening, but I think that this is just an adjustment

Mazda Replaced under warrantee the 2 seat belt tracks and belts for the passive restraint seat belt system so these are BRAND NEW!

Had Fuel injectors cleaned and flow tested by Witch-hunter performance. The also installed new Pintels on the injectors. All tested almost new in spec. I have the results.

Starts and Runs 1st time every-time.

Idles smoothly

Car will come with synthetic pre-mix oil if you want it. I decided to run a little pre-mix in the gas just to give extra lubrication during break in. I have only used one bottle of 25 that I received

Replaced all injector seals

Installed brand new Walbro 255 LPM fuel pump in tank.

Removed fuel tank to clean and debris that might be in it.

Installed Cold air intake with washable filter

New stock BOV

New Air conditioner dryer. System has not been charged yet after re-build.

Removed all emissions.

Car was originally an 89 GTU Automatic NA. It has been completely and thoroughly converted to Turbo II car.

Installed stock JDM ALUMINUM hood on car

The car has NO DINGS, DENTS or Scratches. The paint is literally brand new.

Installed factory fog lights in front bumper.

Flash to pass lenses have been removed, re-polished and re-installed. They look brand new.

Replace both headlight up motors

New horns.

Throttle body conversion done to remove extra butterfly set for faster throttle response and better air flow at higher RPM.

NEW intake air thermo sensor

The car runs great now, but I am not a tuner. I am sure that it could use a fine tuning from someone who knows what they are doing to tweak it a little. I have not had a chance to really “drive” the car because of the fresh rebuild.

Installed New plugs and new wires on the car.

Installed complete new grounds on car

New battery

New fuel filter

New thermostat
