Bubble Tech LHD Passenger Footrest
So some may know I've been working on our version of a LHD passenger footrest for quite some time... After being hassled by a few people (mainly my mother ) I finally got around to making the last adjustments and figuring out the manufacturing process (All hand made in house).
Inspired by the Passenger Footrest only offered in the Spirit R edition (RHD), we designed and developed our own style footrest. In our version we have designed it to fit LHD cars and features dimple dies. We inherited the dimple die technique that is often used in race cars. Many race cars cut circles out of sheet metal to reduce the weight but by utilizing the dimple die, the hole is extruded in a 3rd dimension increasing its strength. We used this to increase the strength of our footrest and....... for styling points:ylsuper: Feats/specs Aluminum footrest dimple die construction Finish- Powder coated Gloss Black or "Chrome" Price $185 Pics (Yes we've done our R&D, just a few prototypes ) Last prototype before last tweaks/modifications (dont mind the mars, and imperfections, this was done quickly for mock up purposes) "Final" part made from the final manufacturing process (Jigs/etc) Left side is before sandblasting, right side is after. This is showing how the markings (from the press and brake) are no longer visible live the previous prototype. Also left the left side glossy so you can see the detail better. I'll have some pics of the foot rest in the car in the next day or two. We've started manufacturing the footrest and should have 10-15 ready for powder coating by the end of the week! |
