Default TEAM SR FB Rx-7 Rebuild

This will be a RCC exclusive. I love what the site is about and how it holds true to it's roots!

First some history...

The car was originally built in 2003 by my father and his best friend (coincidentally I am close friends with his son too). They ran SCCA IT7 in the Central FL region for a few years then funds dried up. Before parking the car in 2006 they rebuilt the engine and began break-in. After only about 2 hours of break-in they shelved the project....

Fast forward to 2011. I bought the car from him and am in the process of freshening it up. Paint, Electrical, Engine, and some Suspension. The plan is to keep the same basic color scheme but with Flat Black and Orange and without the funky orange on the nose of the car. Love you Dad but not sure what you were smoking... lol

Some pics of the car when i first got it.

The car had no brakes, no clutch and wouldn't fire. First thing I did was rebuild the carburetor.

Before:

After:

I also bled the brakes which luckily was all it needed and replaced the hydraulic clutch parts with steel braided lines and oem pieces courtesy of MazdaTrix.

Finally I got her to fire up, did a little dialing in and started to re-do the break-in. Unfortunately the car never quit spewing smoke, and oil ring chatter started to develop. So here we are today... rebuild time.
