Unhappy Hi all

Hi all,

My name is Randy. I just found your site and joined. I've been a rotary fan for many years. I've owned 3 RX-3 wagons, a RX-4, a RX-2 and I currently own a 76 Cosmo which I've had since 86. I love these cars and would love an RX-7 or 8, but finances have prevented me up to now. I also would love to have another RX-3 wagon.
I'm originally from Colorado, where I bought my Cosmo, until recently I lived in Huntsville, AL. This past month I got a job with Jacobs Engineering and had to move to the Orlando FL area.

About a year ago I flipped my Cosmo. It's been setting for that time while I decided what to do with it. In bringing it to Orlando with me I found out the front end (the whole frame) has been bent at least an inch or two. With the windshield busted, the entire front end damaged, one door damaged, the roof and trunk damaged I've decided to part it out. I even lost the back glass on the move to Orlando, it's somewhere on the road between Huntsville and Orlando. I didn't notice it was gone until we stopped for a bite to eat in Florida! I had another Cosmo I was using as a parts car but it's so rusted now that it isn't worth much. I busted the windshield trying to move it, but did get the back glass out. The doors are ok but rusted. I have all side glass. One of the cars had electric windows. I have a few chrome pieces, but some of them are hail damaged. The hood on the flipped one was bent in half, so I don't think it could be repaired. I have the hood off the other but it is very rusted and has quite a few rusted thru holes in it. The trunk lid is a little better.

I was thinking on taking the engine and tranny out and using them for my "dream" project: putting them in a Opel GT. But I've not made my mind up about that. The tranny has the syncro for 1st to 2nd that grinds some on the up-shift but other than that is in great condition. The engine I had built by Bill Colter (SP?) in CA. He did a big street port for me. I have my cosmo intake with Paul Yaw's carb on it. The engine ran great. I tried to start it before I brought it to Orlando but after charging the battery for 24 hours it was still dead and I didn't have another to swap with it so I didn't get the chance before we had to trailer it for the move. I have both sets of bumper "skins" and one set of the bumper "guts". Both sets of seats are ok, one has less "sun" damage than the other. Both dashes are cracked, one less than the other. Let me know if you are interested in anything else and I'll look for it.

This is a sad day, my Cosmo has been my baby for a number of years and I was in the process of doing some restoration when I flipped it, but it is time I moved on. Maybe now I can get an RX-7 or 8!

The little I looked around when I found your club looks great and I look forward to membership with all you fellow rotorheads!

Randy
