That'll def be an option, but I'm going to need your car in my shop for that. I'm running the FD waterpump which I believe moves the alt forward. I would like to get the thing behind the alt.... I had to modify (heat and beat the living shit out of) the support braces for the hood to get it to clear.

Ah that blows man.... find a blown driveshaft and cut the yoke off. Whenever you remove the driveshaft, insert the buttplug and that'll never happen again.... SOOOO NICE. Although I actually got a smaller plastic plug with the FE trans

I didn't leak the BIG things that I'm doing though. This is why you need to come to DGRR, and see AJ's car as well. She'll be .......... different

That is so awesome. Are there enough pics of that car's progress to make a thread for it? Or is there a pre-existing thread floating around somewhere?

One of your neighbors/friends is thinking the same thing. In fact, we're in discussions now Something to most definately consider though and I'm being completely serious.

Yeah there is, it's over on V8RX7Forum. Project Imola in the builds section..... username SunshineFC3S or somthing very close to that. I'd give you a link but like most things RX7 related, the forum is down The progress has been lackluster the last year. I have high ..... VERY high hopes of having her done by DGRR. I doubt it'll happen though.

So I told a forum member I'd get some pics up of the comparision between the Marren and the Aeromotive filter and here they are. I also mounted the thing tonight. Waiting on a crimped -3AN line from Goodridge/Carolina Racing Supply which is due tomorrow so I can monitor Fuel PSI becusae........ well.... I seem to need it.

Anywho, comparision of the two side by similar length, the Aeromotive is 3/8" longer, didn't measure the OD, I think the Aero is 2" and the Marren 1.5"

More importantly, look at the difference in the filter area. There really is no comparision at all. As a bonus when you buy an Aeromotive replacement filter (I already have one which is how I know this) the new element comes with an o-ring to seal the element to the top piece of the filter, and there is a new o-ring for the ORB on top of the filter.

TitaniumTT - bracket builder extraordinaire The billet piece I bought, obviously, pricey @ ~ $60 but worth it, SOOOOO sexy and makes removing the thing a breeze.

Using the stock nutserts for mounting, the thing is SOLID! 1/4" 5052 AL with 3/8" spacers so I could locknut the thing from behind. I'll weld them on later and MAYBE powdercoat or anodize it. I toyed with the idea of using 3/8" plate for the mounting and then tapping for the 1/4-20 cap nuts but this being a fuel item, I opted for the MOST secure.... and here it is.

That filter looks like a much more robust unit. Hopefully this cures your woes. Good idea on the fuel psi monitoring. Damn bro, your FC has more monitoring equipment then the F-15's I work on, lol.

I still can't get over how fried you look in that photo after the prime job. A little vodka would have cured that lethargic look.....a certian goose perhaps.

Filter looks good mounted. I was contemplating getting that same filter last year.

Well holy crap on Alex's T2 - I've got some serious competition! Thats an awesome rig you all have setup for coating the car though. I would have loved to had mine flipped and dipped, but no resources for down here and I'm in a town lot, lol

Did he use herculiner on the underside? I flip flopping on what to use as the top coat. I have POR15 as the base coat to protect the rust, but havent fully decided just yet how to proceed. Def lizard skin the interior though.

That fuel filter mounting bracket turned out really nice too - if you dont solve your fuel problems soon - Dave is going to disown you

I hope so too man. I mean, where is the dirt coming from? If it was coming from outside the car, I would think fuel would end up on the ground when fueling Either way though, that filter should last more than 500 miles. The fuel PSI logging has been there from the beginning. I actually have a seperate map in there for fuel psi comp but I've never played with it. i may set something up so that if it ever heads south of say 30psii it just pigs up the entire map. We'll see.

I would've def hit the grey goose drivers that I loove sooooo much but I actually had to work that day. We finished at sunrise, went out and got some grub, headed back to inspect the work, which is when that pic was taken, and then Alex went home to sleep and I went to work for ~10 hours. He went back to my place that night to start taping everything off and then we herculined, then I passed the fuck out. Yeah, I hate those allnighters yet I always seem to do them, expecially before a race, a show, a dyno, whatever. Which reminds me, I should probably go put the tranny, driveshaft, exhaust etc etc etc and re-plumb the fuel PSI sender so I can make it to the dyno tomorrow WOOT!!!!!

What filter did you end up running?

Thanks man. I hope this is the end of it. I kinda think that the filter was pretty FUBAR and was never cleaned from the epoxy but we'll see. If I have any more problems I'm replacing the -6 stainless lines that I already replace, I'm already buying a BRAND NEW S5 tank, I dunno what else.

As for Dave dis-owning me...... Did you hear what he said as we left the last time???? Get this piece of shit outta my shop I'm picking up a pint of his favorite liquor before I head out. I figure one of three things will happen and all will be worthy of a drink so I can't go wrong.

Aight - offf to stuff a tranny back in, I shoulda just pulled the engine and made my life easier. Later night but easier.

Bah - just learned read up about herculiner not surviving intense heat... makes me second guess using it as the basis for the undercoat. I may just use the lizard skin all over, or maybe a combo of the two... something you may want to share with Alex. Its not that it cant take the heat, but apparently it gets "gooey" and can potentially become flammable when it gets to a liquid like state...

Really? Is herculiner an undercoating or a truck bed liner? Cause while undercoating is naturally kind of gooey, bed liner should hold up MUCH better to heat and not be as much of a problem. I think that if you keep it away from the turbo area, the rest of it should be fine in the exhaust path, it's not like we're running cast iron pipes, just the turbine housing, the rest is thin walled pipe, and cools off rather quick.

Yea - its a truck bed liner and its mainly the areas directly around the turbo and downpipe I'm concerned with.. thats why I'm thinking maybe a combo of lizard skin and herculiner, but honestly - per gallon, lizard skin is cheaper so it may make more sense.

Herculiner is really tough, but supposedly when near intense heat it gets soft... supposedly even in direct sunlight for a few hours it can get a bit "tacky" like a nice racing tire consistency...

This is all from a buddy of mine at the parts store who sells TONS of stuff, he really has no reason to lie, but its not from direct experience, just customers who've told him it...
