That is very neat, but I would need a bigger garage to add such a tool.
I hate my small modern two car garage. OK, time to start working on winning the lottery! |

I am still considering picking one of those oil extractors up....The lift is usually taken so it could definitely be helpful, too bad all the other cars I use have the oil filter on the bottom. Everyone who has ever changed oil outside knows it sucks when you open that drain plug and the oil comes out too fast and splatters everywhere including your face!! Or when you've got the drain pan positioned perfectly under the car and a gust of wind comes and the oil comes out sideways, no where near the drain pan all over the ground.

Man, you guys are weird... you'd get some funny looks using that thing in my neck of the woods. hehe
I've got a setup like that that uses an electric lab vacuum pump and a large resevoir that I've used for brakes, but I just couldn't justify using it for oil. Maybe I'll give it a try one of these days. |

I have both oil and brake fluid extractor.
Dan, I had an Acura and it had filter at the bottom.. I stilled used it as it sucked up more oil than draining the oil thru the plug. And like you said, it was cleaner. In our MX-5 I just change the oil using this and change the filter every other change (3k miles).. except I been using Amsol synthetic that say I could run upto 12K.. so I do it 5k and change the filter. MX5 is pain in the ass to change out the filter.. and MESSY!

A fabricator I use frequently for welding little things uses Amsol in his Chevy truck which has more then 320,000 miles on the original engine, and changes the oil every 12,000 miles...It still runs great he said.

thanks for letting me in on this. I ordered mine a few weeks ago and it works great it pulled 5 quarts out of my FD and since the FD's oil filter is easy to get to its great. my blazers oil filter is right under the front bumper area and i use it on that also. but kinda usless if you have to get under the car to get the oil filter off. i got mine here. i just got the Pela 6000.

I know this has nothing to do with oil, but it is another very handy little tool.
![]() Makes it very easy and mess free to get any air bubbles out of the cooling system. http://www.thetoolwarehouse.net/shop/LIS-24610.html |
