Default expecting the worst.. omp senor

hey folks
I have a 91 GXL n/a

after a series of event my 7 is dead yet again... but im getting the engine code 20.. which is the oil metering pump sensor... im beginning to think that the pump is dead... but i haven't test it yet LOL my voltage meter died on me. whats the easiest way to test if it works or not...? I do know a omp is $1.5k at mazdatrix. whats the alternate if the pump is dead ? Would removing the omp hurt my emissions?

You need to check your stepper motor. Follow the FSM procedure for that. If you need to; pick up a new voltmeter either that or replace the batt/fuse if you need to. But check that before going out to buy a new OMP

RTEK Stage 1 ecu upgrade: $100

Banzai Racing OMP delete kit: $25

Running premix on your car: priceless!

is there a FAQ on premix and how it works and what not? I wouldn't mind running a rtek.
Would running premix hurt my emmissions?

1) Buy two stroke oil
2) Read instructions
3) ????????
4) Profit!

You can run premix if you want, but right now you don't even know if your OMP is bad or if it's just your sensor, or another fault along the way. Really try to isolate and test if the major components are bad before opting to get rid of a functioning system. If it does turn out to be faulty you can run premix with little bad effect--Emissions wise, that's a good question, one I can not answer directly so I won't.

You can't remove the OMP on an S5 because it's electric, not mechanical (like S4)...you'll go into limp mode.

Best bet is to look for one used...PM/call engine builders, and shops that work on rotaries to see if you can get a used OMP.

Second best is Rtek with OMP delete.

Third best (the one I'm least knowlegeable on) is to switch to an S4 OMP and THEN deleting it and premixing.

as far as premix (please wait till someone else confirms this) I believe it's:

1oz./Gal. without OMP.
1oz./4 Gal with OMP.

Sorry to hear man, you've been having issues with that car for a while now.

Noooo, both entertainment items are down? Sucks man....added my 360 tag to the sig so you can add me when you fix it (you have to fix it). Maybe talk to Peter and see if he has a spare OMP?

i'LL HAVE TO LOOK AT THE fsm BUT YOU MIGHT BE ABLE TO REBUILD IT TOO.

baw i got another omp... its good i tested it with the guildlines from the FSM. i didn't swap it in though... i swapped the sensors.. and i still get the code... im deciding now.. either save up and buy a rtek and omp block and worry about emmission later. Since.. that'll be next year... but is running rtek and then a SAFC a good idea? so i can tune it out for highway cruising and daily driving and some fun.. hehe.

See if the old OMP is rebuildable and make some money back. Glad to hear the car is gonna be on the road soon.
