Finally installed Garfinkle's AP delete idler pulley
I finally had some time to spend at my shop today and among other things, installed David's idler pulley I got a few of weeks ago.
As background, last winter I did a pretty comprehensive rebuild and emissions delete following a coolant seal failure at 87k. Also installed a PFC along with some other things. I occasionally autocross my car, but it's primarily street driven, so I wanted to delete the AP but avoid moving to oversized pulleys to keep belt contact. My rationale was discussed in this thread http://www.rx7club.com/showthread.php?t=716884 . It was also in that thread that I discovered that Mr. Garfinkle intended to make some pulleys. Being familiar with the quality of his other stuff (also have his pan brace) I waited and I think it paid off. This is not intended to criticize the other pulleys available. Just personal preference here. I just liked David's design, particularly how it was adjustable just like the AP was. He also used dual arms on the main shaft which should eliminate any chance of deflection. The pulley itself is aluminum on a stout steel arm and supports. The downside (if you call it that) is that you must paint or powdercoat the arms and shaft. Not a big deal. What you see below is just some rattle can metallic silver that I had sitting on a shelf, over self-etching primer. Also this pulley is ONLY good for someone running twins. ![]() Just setting it in and aligning the pulley with the WP and Alternator. It's easier if you mark the shaft for arm placement BEFORE you paint or powercoat. ![]() ![]() ![]() Just a shot straight-on before I re-installed my IC that shows how blingy the pulley is. In addition to about a 10 or 12 lbs. weight savings, I'll have alittle more room and hopefully a little better airflow. In any event, it looks infinitely better than that old AP that I had sitting in it's place all last summer.

Last Saturday, I was visiting Garfinkle to pick up my rotors and had a chance to install this unit on someone else's car... I have to say install was simple and definitely a quality work!! If I didn't have to have an air pump, I would get this unit!

I wonder if this will fit with my IC piping? I'm going to have to look, I've been wanting a pully, I'm just not sure which one I want.

Dan Chadwicks fits lower ,check on it before getting mine .If you pay for mine and it does not fit your car you can return it if you pay the shipping . Dans is mounted on a single plane has a high quality single row bearing and alum pulley . With no air pump you need an idler .Dans and mine are the better ones ,so I think . I also have oil pan braces ready and engine torque braces ready to ship .

Yes spread the word. Tweakit racing has invited me to show my parts with their display. Dans parts are very high quality. Thank you Mr Chadwick .
