Default 88 T2 weird fuel issue

so i just got my 88 t2, with a full tank of gas, it lacks power, with 3/8ths or less, it cuts out randomly, between 3/8ths and 3/4 it hammers pretty hard, this is very strange lol. I am getting a walbro and changing the filter soon, there isn't anything else i can think of that would affect this like that unless perhaps there is some sort of check valve on the fuel tank vent that could affect it.

Could also be a fuel rail, maybe an injector is malfunctioning due to a wire thats going bad, maybe theres a fuel leak somewhere?

Heck I dunno, sounds pretty weird haha

I always learned that doing the easy stuff is the best way to go first...

I would go with changing the fuel filter, and then get a fuel pressure gauge and see if the pump is doing its job. If that is the case then i would make sure that the fpr is ok and not bad. If that all checks out then it has to be something with the injectors. So on to those you go.

Like Caim said start with injectors, fuel filter first then check pressure pray that clears it up if not you might have trash in the tank stopping up the screen filter before the fuel gets to the pump

its free to pull the pump assembly out and inspect it. Run the tank low and see if you can get a flash light and see down in the tank a bit to see if there is debris. (do not use anything that can ignite anything). Also check the pump inlet sock for clogging, etc.
