Get Banzai's Poly mounts for the engine and trans. Use RTV to seal the pan.

will the pan seal good with rtv because i dont like to use it if i have to. where can i get those mounts.

permatex ultra black...

apply to the flange inside the bolt hole line of both surfaces, let sit for 3-4 min, then bolt up and let sit for a hour or so

I would suggest OEM or Mazda comp motor mounts bought through your local dealer (unsure if they sell the comp mounts). The aftermarket motor mounts aren't as good and are not designed as well. If I recall correctly you have an N/A so there's no real reason for harder than stock mounts.

Any of the quality poly bushing sets should dramatically improve feel vs. stock rubber, and the increase in harshness is minimal with stock suspension, and the improvement in handling with an aftermarket spring/strut (or coilover) is dramatic.

You're right - the bolt BREAKS.
You're putting strain in the bolt and the metal engine bracket - something is going to fail.
Sure, these mounts are cheap, but there's a reason why they are cheap - cause they are easy to make.
Get a block of whatever - drill a hole in it - insert bolt / nut.
Viola - cheap ass engine mount.
Yes, they transmit a significant amount of vibration through the chassis cause it's going through the bolt.

I've seen one of the "popular" aftermarket engine mounts fail by the bolt breaking.

At least the stock mounts are design to handle the compression and tension forces of the engine.
These mounts actually pull a little when the engine pull against the two end studs.
This is why the stock engine mounts are best...or at least the stiffer Mazda competition ones.

I can see why race cars would go with solid mounts, but no street car should be running anything other than the Mazda units.

Many are relatively new, and I don't think anyone has like 100,000 miles on a set yet.
Sure, they will probably never break, but I question the increased stress on engine, brackets, transmission, etc. cause the mounts just don't give under tension.

I'd recommend the competition mounts at under $50 each.

yeah... but you'd be in a walmart parking lot so there wouldn't be any point...

Hey, nothing wrong with shopping at Wal-Mart. Sure, it's pretty depressing to go to, but I can't say no to great prices and finding basically everything I need in one store.

Oddly enough, this bone stock (2 stock cats!) 88 vert that I am about to put up for sale, will straight ROAST the right rear tire anytime you stab the throttle in a turn or on a hill. But it has hard old tires on it, so maybe that is why.
It depends on what time of day you go. I've gone before and they're out of a lot of stuff, but that's usually late at night before they restock. I would probably go to Target if there were one closer but it's a ways away.

Hey guys, I have the banzai mounts.

One thing I want to know about RTED'ed and a lot of other people's comments is this:

have you people actually used the product? One little detail about the mounts, is that it's not just a bolt going through. The bolt threads through one of the metal rings, compressing the poly mount , and then you have the nut holding the mount. I'm NOT saying that people like RTed don't know their shit, but rather that what they are saying sounds like their "opinion" and perhaps they have not tried the actual product yet?

There are a lot of people that run Banzai mounts, and I have not yet seen a thread stating any problems with them. If you see such a thread, please show it to me, because I spent hard earned money on mine.

No no, you're not crazy.

They have their purpose. I'm running MMR's (same design basically, just with harder material) and I can flat out tell you that the solid AL blocks I ran before easily made 50% more vibration in the cabin.

My reason/need for going that route on my street car was keeping the engine in place. Sure there's other ways, but its my car damnit
