Looking for opinions on replacement rotors
While the friction surface and veins of my stock rotors are in decent shape, they're definitely looking like 15 yr old rotors and it's bugging me. Figured I'd replace them over the winter while the car is up anyway. Looking at the various options for stock size replacement I'm seeing EBC, PowerSlot, RB and a few others. I do the occassional autoX but primary use of the car is on the street. I'm leaning toward slots but not drilled. Anyone care to chime in on recommendations?

Well I always post up in these about cquence rotors. I got the cross dimmpled and slotted ones on a group buy. Had them about a year and my car has sat more than driven, but no major issues. Great customer service and I know if ten people buy at the same time he uses the group buy code. I can send pics of them on my vert if you want.

I think stock replacements will be more than sufficient.

Performance-wise, I agree OEM would do just fine...especially with upgraded pads. But for the price of OEM, I'd like to upgrade at least for a set that are coated. I've seen OEM that are only about a year old that don't look much better than what I have. Mine aren't worn out. I don't think they've ever been turned either. They just look nasty behind the wheels. May sound shallow to some, but like I said, it bugs me.

I've got a a set of the CQuence slotted rotors for my GSL-SE. They look good, but I cannot comment about how they work. They're still in the box they were shipped in, the previous owner threw them in when I got the car. The stockers are still in decent shape, and work fine for autox, so it may be a while before I get around to installing them.
I know the CQuence products are plated, so they *should* resist looking nasty for quite some time. |

I would concur.
I tracked my stock rotors, and they performed rather well. After replacing the fronts with drilled/slotted Brembos, and similar Ferodo's on the rear, it seemed to me that it was taking longer to brake during a track day. The drilled/slotted rotors will shorten brake pad life. I completely destroyed a set of front pads in about 1.5 track days with the rotors. Granted the Brembo rotors looked nice, but I don't think they worked any better. Moot point now for me, as the fronts are 12.75 inch Coleman's with Wilwood SL6 calipers and Porterfield R4 pads. These work very well on track days. |

I really like these Centric rotors from Zeckhausen racing (east coast) or Pro Parts (west coast)

Spent the whole day at Buttonwillow Raceway Park during the summer with my Cquence rotors. They did pretty well I must say. I wouldn't say that they're much better than blanks though. I got mine because they were priced well, local, and I needed a set asap. Brake fade was minimal, and there were no signs of cracking or warping after 15-20 minute sessions.

I bought discs for all four wheels from Rockauto. Just got some of the cheapest they had, I believe they were about $15.00 each. Came in Brembo boxes, and were stamped Brembo, but who knows. They are coated, and have performed great for nearly a year now coupled with the Hawk pads I got from Billy. Even the hardest driving during autocross, or panic stops from highway speeds, I haven't had a single issue with them.
Sure, you can spend a bunch more money for rotors that will work better, but will the difference in performance really be worth the difference in cost? Hell, I've still got to feed the family, you know? .
