Default Hello all!

Hi all, i'm an rx7 fd3s owner living in the UK, just been looking for a set of twin turbos, think they're hitachi H12's?? Looked at ebay and found a guy selling some, and he had a write up about this site, so thought i'd join!

My fd is silver, and was standard when i bought it a year ago, now i have twin air filters and a catback exhaust, changed the headlights to some dual halos, and now i'm looking to really make it run right, and stay that way for a while, i do intend on big power gains, but it is all relevant to cash flow!

Basically my boost pattern seems to be wrong, with the first turbo running a nice 0.9, then drops to around 0.5, just as it should i believe, but the second turbo boosts up to around 0.9 for only a second before dropping to 0.6 til the red line!

I'm relatively new to all this stuff, but willing to listen and learn. I had to replace my sparks last week, although i had replaced them only three months previous, not sure, but could this be oil from turbo two leaking and gumming the plugs up?

If you can help, or even if you just fancy a chat, drop me a message and say hi!

Cheers,
Adam

Good to have you here thx for joining..

as to yoru question.. If the turbos are blowing oil out the exhaust u would notice it and it wont gum up the plugs.. now if the turbos are blowing oit out the front into the intercooler piping then it is possible some could get fed back in through the intake track and land on the plugs.

remove yrou intercooler pipe from the turbo (both of them) and look for any signs of oil.. if they are clean then u are passing no oil out the front.

are u having problem with oil consumption

I dont know much abotu how the fd's run but is it possible they are spiking to .9 then just settling at .5-.6 if thats the case maybe thats normal. ALSO if they are just .1 different maybe u have better flow out of one exhaust port then the other.. if I remember right the turbos are fed off the same manifold it is possible one will see more exhaust then the other.

nope sorry to hear sir.. u need a new turbo or have them rebuilt...

when u do the job make sure to clean yrou intercooler pipes AND remove the intercooler and clean it with (I use gasoline) and then water then let it air dry.

the intercooler will have oil gummed up in the bottom of it now..

Thanks for the info/help! Managed to buy a pair of turbos, with some play on the shaft of one of them, also bought some hitachi uprated impellers and shafts, with a 15 degree clip, got it all for about $100 US, so if it doesn't work out i don't mind too much! Keep ya'll posted on how it goes and if i gain any performance with the upgrades!

check out BNR here on the forum if you still need a new set of turbos. there are several members here who swear by his turbos.

how much oil is in your IC?? If some, i say its ok. I would go thru your vac lines and make sure everything is ok. Look for signs of crack and check your one way valves. Don't look at some residue on your IC piping as sign of bad turbo. Unless you are smoking really REALLY bad and unable to boost correctly, i would not blame on turbos and go thru pain staking time to replace turbos.

Check your shaft place on the turbos that are on and trace all the lines.

Good luck.

lots of oil in the IC pipes, black bumber where it should be silver, and spark plugs keep getting coked up. Where will i find the one way valves? all pipes in the rats nest seem ok!
