Oil Cooler

Since im ALWAYS BAW I think a lot about my car. Today, I'm thinking about oil coolers. I've had this idea for a while.... but first: What are some good aftermarket OC set ups? I like idea of a dual set up but most of the kits I see are for the FD platform. I imagine I could modify anything to fit but I wondered if anyone here is running a slick set up I could see. Now my idea.... I'm non turbo. I was thinking that it would be SWEEEEEEEEEET to VMount the radiator and oil cooler(s). Has anyone ever done that?

You don't need to upgrade yours. In fact, FC oil coolers ARE an upgrade for many, many other cars!!!!

Is there any advantage in moving to a dual set up like the FDs have?

V mount Radiator and oil cooler(s) on a NA FC? Why? If it's been done, I'm sure ppl have talked about it on rx7club. Most of the FD guys run Setrab, Mocal coolers and thermostat. |

I'm don't follow FC builds but i have seen anyone Vmount on a NA. People probably don't do this because the stock setup works well.

In my mind for the same reason you would Vmount a radiator and intercooler.

Not necessary. It gets great airflow as it is, and has short lines, so it is simple. FYI- the oil cooler from my Cosmo is considered an upgrade for any rotary, since they are like 8 core!!

On a FD if you put an intercooler in front of the radiator it blocks airflow to the radiator therefore it doesn't cool the intercooler as good as it should. That's why people go v mount.

For what it's worth, (IIRC) my oil temp is typically ten or more degrees cooler than engine temp when driving.
