my ongoing struggle

Hello all this will be an ongoing thread of my struggle with my fd3s and its build

I bought this car about two months ago. This is my second rotary powered vehicle. My first was a 1988 NA fc3s. I loved the car until it popped and I sold it. So now I have a 1993 Fd with touring package. the vehicle was modded prior to being purchased.

Mod listdone by previous owner)

koyo radiator
FAL fans and shroud kit
mishimoto radiator hoses
ApexI pod filters
smog delete
xs power LSMIC
megan street coilovers
ApexI down pipe and full exhaust with high flow cat
ApexI power fc
unknown carbon fiber hood
hot water labs headlights (removed)
enkei 17's with crazy large tires

Mod List: ( I have done)
dangdrifters intake piping one off
17'' gram lights

In the works:
DangDrifters crossover tube
DangDrifters compression tube & elbow
DangDrifters AST
DangDrifters full 3" catless exhaust
Ogura Clutch
DangDrifters full cage
various gauges
big country labs wing

Cons:
needs multi switch
needs random misc parts
yucky paint
needs headlight covers

At the moment my car is at my buddy's shop for winter storage as well as getting some much needed maintenance. My buddy Russel owns DangDrifters in New Hampshire and is fabing up a bunch of one off parts for the car as well as doing an overhaul of the vacuum lines and cleaning up and sealing of the grounds. In the spring after the car is all buttoned up it will be heading over to granite state dyno for a nice tune! the compression is 105 in the front and 100 in the rear which I am a little bit worried about but will hopefully be deciding what to do about that soon. I was thinking NA because im really into NA and wouldn't mind a 20b na or even some type of newer 13b NA. But most likely a fresh 13b REW since I have already sunk so much time and money into the engine bay ei custom piping etc. So for now I will try to update and progress on this build and pictures!

You shouldn't be...

Mazda dealers have an officially revised spec of 60 - 65psi for a "good" motor.

Well that's good cuz I got into an argument with someone on a different forum cuz he said my motor was junk when I got readings of 95 and 90 with a non mazda compression tester. Told me I needed a rebuild because 100 was factory spec. All the info I found said 85 and above was good so he accused me of spreading lies . 60 65 makes me feel much better! Thanks

Whatever the case...

I think your 100 - 105psi readings are damn good for an FD 13B-REW!
Enjoy your motor for a while!

Hey long time no post. My car has been in storage all winte while i gather parts. I just got my Pettit limited ecu and installed that and two boost gauges with a buddy of mine. We started the car and took it for a ride to set the boost. The gauge i had wasnt working right so we brought the car back to his shop to swap out the boost gauge. On our was to the shop it started to idle very low between 200 and 500 at standstill. Once at the shop with the hood open we realized that when the coolong fans went on the engine would idle as mentioned 200-500 rough idle. I went to turn the car around to put it in a spot and it died. It would not start , i checked the plugs to see if it was flooded but the plugs were dry. The plugs were black as night but i dont think that would cause the idle issues under load. It could be the altenator but i cant test it since it wont start.also when the car died the fog lights cam on and wouldnt go off! Im thinking bad grounds? Altenator? Anyone experience this befor?
