Wink GB#2 - FC3S Bi-Xenon HID Projector Headlights… FINAL GB! - SBG

This is the last Group Buy on our Bi-Xenon Projector Headlights.

With summer coming to a close we seem to be receiving a ton of messages asking if our headlights are available. Unfortunately as we only make them in large batches for group buy runs we’ve had to turn everyone away for single orders due to lack of time to build them as we’re working on so many other projects at the moment. Since the headlights have to be hand built and are very time consuming we’ve put them on the back burner for quite some time, but will do one last push on them before focusing on R&D of new projects.

INFO:

We all know that the stock headlights on the RX-7 are completely inadequate for night driving. The possibility of missing something on the side of the road, up ahead, or around a corner creates a dangerous scenario. We finally decided to fix this problem once and for all. SakeBomb Garage is pleased to knock your socks off with the highest quality 'pop-up' Bi-Xenon Projector HID kit for the FC.

Unlike our original design this new design does not require housing spacers to clear the bulb connector. At nearly half the cost, and with no hassles with modifications or spacers to fit the deep projector the new setup is a no brainer for anyone looking for a proper lighting setup for their FC (or any other car using the same headlight size).

FC Owners: Welcome to the 21st Century!
PRODUCT HIGHLIGHTS:

- New headlight housings, with bi-xenon (high/low) projectors
- Optically clear projector lenses
- New SBG 4300K bulbs (5000k SBG bulbs with 50w ballast option, 6000k available as special order)
- High quality 35w SLIM weather/shock proof digital ballast (35w heavy duty ballasts, & 50w heavy duty ballasts available)
- Custom SBG Plug and Play wiring harness - specifically for the FC

Optional 35W HeavyDuty Ballast Upgrade:
Our standard Bi-Xenon kit comes with 35W Slim Ballast to create the most cost effective and lightweight Bi-Xenon kit available. We offer an optional upgrade to a 35W HeavyDuty Ballast, which are more durable and resistant to temperature and vibration. They also have an integrated ignitor for a cleaner and more compact wiring solution.

Optional 50W HeavyDuty Ballast Upgrade:
We also offer the option of 50W ballasts (and accompanying 5000k bulbs) instead of the OEM-spec 35W ballasts and 4300K bulbs. There are pros and cons to using 50W ballasts, so please select the kit that best suits your personal preference.

Xenon bulbs are manufactured to run at 35W, however they can be over-driven to produce more light than would normally be available at a lower wattage. Typically one will find an additional 30% increase in total light, however this extra light does come at a cost: the additional wattage can somewhat reduce the lifespan of the bulbs. The color range of the bulbs is shifted LOWER (more yellow) with increased wattage; however the color temp can be shifted back up to normal bright white by using 5000K bulbs, which is why we will supply the 50W ballasts with 5000K bulbs. At the end of the day, yes, the total light output is increased with 50W ballasts, but it does not change the beam pattern with which it is distributed so you simply end up with a BRIGHTER light, not wider or longer throw. Is this a good thing? Sometimes yes, sometimes no. In the city where streets are well lit, the extra light from the 50w ballasts is definitely welcome, but on very dimly lit back-roads the contrast difference between foreground and background could feel overwhelming to some, and reflector signs will appear very reflective. It is a personal choice whether this increased light output is right for you, but if in doubt remember that the OEM standard is 35W.

We’re confident that this is currently the best performing lighting kit available for the FC, from here to Japan… bar none! This setup is the standard against which other lights are currently judged. Yes, they're that good. These lights ARE the gold standard, and we've yet to see a higher performing lighting setup. We built these lights not only for aesthetic benefit, but as a much needed safety item to prevent a potential accident. Yes they are expensive, but so is your car and they have personally saved us from accidents, deer, and tickets over the many years we’ve been running them

PRICE ($100 off retail):
$465.00 - 35w Ballasts and SBG 4300k Bulbs
$485.00 - 35w Heavy Duty Ballasts and SBG 4300k Bulbs
$505.00 - 50w Heavy Duty Ballasts (~30% brighter) with SBG 5000K Bulbs

This group buy base pricing is $100 off the standard price; However, we typically do not have these in stock as it is.

Info on our Bi-Xenon setup

HID Lighting 101:

Other HID “kits” use the stock headlight housing in conjunction with a Xenon bulb. The plus side, they are unbelievably cheap. The negative side? Typically these setups:

- Blind other drivers
- Have a horrible field of view
- Severely scatter the light
- Have uneven lighting with no cutoff
- Actually WORSEN your night vision (they throw intense light into the foreground. This makes your pupils close, causing your distance night-vision to become worse than with your stock halogen lights)

Projector HID's on the other hand are what is used in every OEM HID lighting setup. Our Projectors:

- Have a very even dispersion of light
- Have a very wide dispersion of light
- Have a very long throw (with high beams)
- Illuminate much larger portions of the road while not ruining your night vision
- Oh yeah, and they don't blind other drivers, or attract attention from people who may or may not drive Crown Victorias

Projectors vs Reflectors:

Here is a good video comparing true projector HID’s to “conversion/reflector” HID’s:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y5n38wDe684

To truly see the difference you need to see our kit in person, pictures honestly don’t do it justice. But don’t take our word for it…

Here’s what current owners have said:

When I saw these, I thought it was a no-brainer. Went for it immediately. The product is top-notch. The ballasts are really solid looking and very small in size. Everything was perfect. When I installed them and lit them up, the difference was AGAIN night and day from the HID kits I had installed before. Even though the HID kits produced a lot of light, but these kits made the visibility so much better: so much more usable light, not light everywhere! And there were high beams too!

And the customer service and all around behavior of Dan and the team are just fantastic, which alone is enough to buy from them.

Thanks guys for making such a wonderful product.

These are fantastic lights and in my opinion in every way shape and form worth every dollar they ask for.

I love how well I can see now. I planned on getting flush mount headlights when I first got the car but as time passed I began to love how the car looks with the pop ups down more than anything. I was still considered getting flush mounts just due to how terrible the factory light output was. After reading about how some of the flush mounts were as bad or even worse at safely illuminating the road I was back at square one. Because of the price of many options and I also wanted something that I thought looked good as well it seemed finding the correct option for me was going to be difficult. Once I saw the original post about the set they built initially I fell in love with these. It was exactly what I wanted and I luckily was able to squeeze in for a set. These guy's are extremely professional and produce quality products. If you miss out on these you'll kick yourself in the ass later. It's unfortunate that are only available through a group buy since they are such a great safety improvement. Thanks for all the hard work and time you guy's put into providing us with these.

She also doesn't mind spending money when it's worth it and when she went out for a drive at night with me she even thought it was money well spent.
I've only owned my FD for maybe 3 years and been driving it for 1 but one of my biggest let downs, which may actually be the only one, was the piss poor lighting. If you put things in perspective these lights are a great price and if you can afford them you should most definitely get them while you can. From a customers perspective what Heath said is not a sales pitch but the god honest truth. I personally feel the GB price is extremely fair. Look at the prices of most other options out there, then compare their functionality to these. I bet you find these are one of the best deals out there. I got these purely for the lighting upgrade and was happy that I got to keep the pop ups. If you haven't seen them in person try and find someone that has them so you can see them in person I guarantee any question you have will be answered and you'll be ready to get your set.

Optional 50W Ballasts:

We are now offering the option of a 50w ballast (and accompanying 5000k bulb) instead of the OEM-spec 35w ballasts. There are pros and cons to using 50w ballasts, but we'll do our best to explain the differences below.

Xenon bulbs are manufactured to run at 35 watts, however they can be over-driven to produce more light than would normally be available at a lower wattage. Typically one will find an additional 30% increase in total light, however this extra light does come at a cost. The additional wattage does reduce the lifespan of the bulbs somewhat. The color range of the bulbs is shifted LOWER (more yellow) with increased wattage (however the color temp can be shifted back up to normal (around 4300k) by using "5000K bulbs"), which is why we will supply this kit with 5000 Kelvin bulbs.

At the end of the day, yes, the total light output is increased, but it does not change the beam pattern with which it is distributed, so you simply end up with a BRIGHTER light, not wider or longer throw.
