Default fmic question

I installed one on my stockish s5 t2 and the idle dropped to 900 vs 1500 prior to the install. Under stock boost, it goes waay rich, idles irratically. Do I need to upgrade my ecu for it to work properly? When it builds boost, it spikes to 10 and drops to around 8. The wastegate is ported, fd fuel pump, rb turbo back.

Sorry, I can't recall what your previous set-up was...?

Stock ECU? N370?

You were running a stock top-mount IC before?

It sounds like an intake leak...

How are you running the BOV?
Stock? Aftermarket?

Pics?

My engine has a large street port, stock n370 ecu and injectors, fd fuel pump, aftermarket bov recirculated in stock intake pipe. Before the top mount was replaced, it idled at 1400 with no misses and pulled hard. I did find that I had a leak atound the compression tube. But, around 3600 when building boost,it goes pig rich on the wideband 10.0 and hesitates. I changed the plugs and it still hesitates. I have a greddy manage blue and everyone on here told me not to use it, but no clarified reasons. Its not installed.

That is WAY toooooo many mods to leave a stock ECU in there. Change that. Don't use the greedy emangle. Hell, an Rtek would suffice if you can bare the interface, other than that, perhaps an Adaptronic or a GASP PFC

It looks like my stock ecu was maxed with the streetport. I'll remove the fmic and reinstall the top mount till I can get it sorted out. I really appreciate your input.

There's no need to reinstall the TMIC... make sure everything is as it should be, no leaks,, sensors reporting etc etc etc.... and get an ECU that can be tuned and rock and roll with the bitch

I'd still double-check for intake vacuum leaks...
Know how to do that with starting fluid?

Also, how bad of an angle is your stock airflow meter?
From the pics, it looks to be pretty steep...
I would try and keep it at the most 20-degrees off horizontal.

I corrected the meters angle, no vacuum leaks now. I know this sounds stupid, but would the engine temp sensor have some thing to do with this issue? When I first start it, the idle is smooth and revs normal. With the fmic it warms up faster and acts up after that. I'm currently using the stock fan. I was thinking of using an efan and adding a lip at the bottom of the radiator, like on the camaros and corvettes. I'm also wondering if I need a vented hood to help cooling. This is my first t2, so please bare with me.

Anything cooling wise will only help. The vents and the under lip both will only help, if u dont mind cutting into a perfectly good tII hood.

Really? I currently made a lower air deflector, like you find on vettes and camaros to divert air to the radiator. Ive been looking into vented hoods and am considering getting one so the hot air has somewhere to go.
