				FD Transmission Spacer (larger capacity)

Heres our transmission spacer we are prototyping. This is 3/4" thick and allows you to add more tranny fluid. approx. 0.6QT/19oz. Next we will try a 1" version with the addition capacity of ~0.78QT/~25oz. Now to source some hardware!

Muibubbles - This spacer goes between the case and the bottom cover, correct? I'm not 100% sure, but I think this part will also fit FC turbo trannys too. Reason I say that is according to Mazdatrix, the gasket part # is common between the FD's and FC T2's.

What about what I did with my oil pan? Drill a hole between the bolts in the front and the bolt holes in the back .Drill to the size of the alum tubing that you plan to press into the holes .Weld the tubes in place, they should be at least 3/8 dia .Now the cool air will be flowing through the tubes cooling the hot oil .WOW an oil cooler with out any hoses to leak or a fan to burn up. My oil pan has been used for years with no leaks and it is not polished .

Awesome! I will look into it =) Ps We are working on a 1" version which will most likely be the production one. Capacity is roughly .78 QT 25 oz |

I do not have a picture and the pan is on the car .Let me try to type what I think you should do for a great product .Looking at your picture ,lets say the front is on the left and the rear is near the turtle wax . Using the 1 inch thick unit drill a hole ,two if there is room spaced evenly, through the edge between the bolt holes.Match them in the rear edge near the wax can so you can push an alum 3/8 tube through each set of holes .Weld the tubes an the inside ,for more flow counter sink the outer edges .The tube size ,3/8 ,7/16 or 1/2 lnch is big enough to let air flow through in order to cool the oil touching the tube. This can be done in a milling machine very easy ,The welding will be the hardest part .Think of it as an oil cooler with out any hoses to leak or fins to bend up.I know this will work ,and if you have any questions give me a call .

Garfinkle, thats a really good idea. I understand what you mean so simple yet brilliant. I'm going to look into and try mocking something up today.

![]() Just to get an Idea how/where it is mounted to. Test fitted the 3/4" version. Fits like a glove!

Minor update. This Project will be on hold for a few weeks. We are looking into adapting Garfinkles "hose-less/cooler-less" Cooling concept and implementing it into our Transmission spacer. (Thanks David!)

In addition, I'm sick of hand milling these so I've decided to just make a CNC machine first. This should resume progress in 2-3 weeks. |

We actually did some work on these today. We are currently implementing Garfinkles idea of a "oil-less/oil cooler-less" concept!

We have not tested it on a TII trans yet but we're 99% sure since all similar products from JDM companies list the part as an FC/FD compatible! This project is slowly being developed as the FD door panels have priority as of right now |

![]() Version 2 Features Garfinkles Motorsports "Oil-less/cooler-less" concept! The transmission spacer allows you to run more transmission fluid thus taking longer to reach max temps. The additional tubes allow air flow directly through the transmission case now providing cooling! ![]()
