Default Cluster removal help!

Hey guys I'm trying to remove my current cluster and put in a GTU cluster. I got the cluster cover off but ran into a few problems the cables that connect to it won't pull out very far. Is there anyone who has managed to do this before? If so what are some tips or better ways to go about this? Is there a trick to the connectors off? Please help

If I remember correctly you just pull off the wires. the speedo cable has a something holding it on. if that helps. if not try foxed.ca for the service manual.

have you ever took a cluster out before or is this your first time ever? When I removed mine I just took my time and didn't rush it, if you have experience with other clusters then you will be alright it also helps to not have monster hands haha. Just make sure you don't pull on it too hard so you don't break anything and you will be fine and will have it out and the new one in before you know it.

Most of the electrical connectors will have a positive lock/clip feature that prevents them from vibrating loose. Feel around the connector for some sort of tab or edge that "gives" a bit when squeezed. When you find it, gently squeeze at that spot to unlatch the connector while simultaneously wiggling it off its mating connector. In most cases, you'll need tiny monkey hands to pull this off, or it may just be easier to remove whatever other stuff is in the way to get better access.

This is my first time lol. I kinda just got into doing things myself. But this definitely helps! Thanks guys!! Hopefully I'll do it soon when I get a day off from work

The two electrical connectors have the security tab in the center of the plug.

The last (first?) thing you gotta worry about is the speedo cable "clip."
This white plastic clip keeps the speedo cable end securely in place.
Be patient, as this clip spins around in circles.
Don't mangle or pry this clip with force, as once it's damaged, the speedo cable end will end up popping out of place.
Sometimes, you can go in under the dash and snake your hands upwards to the back of the instrument cluster if you've got small hands.
Having a good flashlight will help here.
Remove any ducting, panels, and the steering column cover before starting...
