Updates on progress.

I will be getting ready for the Lincoln NE Pro Solo and Tour in a couple of weeks. I found some nice 17x10 +35 FNO1R-C's for my rain set up and was trying to get some projects completed.

My EHPS project is done. please see pictures. The only issue I have is that the pump is ridiculously loud considering it is 20" from my ear drum! I will have to make some sort of shield or something it is just too loud.

My EWP install is on hold. I have run out of time to get everything going on it. My relocation of the Alt. was a failure so I have to re-engineer a bracket before I can get the EWP installed.


Also I still have the stock engine in. I have not had time to get the new engine in and tuned. Another fail on my part.

That's some great work Carter. Looks good!

I'll email you about my progress with the new turbo setup. I don't have much to tell though. It spools really quick but it's hard to convey butt-dyno results so I'll get it on a dyno one of these days and show what it says lol.

So far so good, I have just returned from the Lincoln NE SCCA Pro Solo and National Tour Spring Nationals. The power steering did very well. Although it is loud once in motion on the course the noise disappears under the 9K rpm and turbo sounds.

I will be attending in the Arkansas Pro Solo and National Tour (Summer Nationals) on June 7th and 8th. I will be testing our new design on the Differential brace. These are needed in the drag race style starts which will snap our little diffs in half. Just ask Tweak it racing lol.

Anyway here are pics of our two in one brace. There is a thread started on the single diff brace and I think a group buy on the other forum. The two and one diff brace is believed to prevent wheel hop. We will see how it does in Arkansas before we go into production with these. Also this fits with my 4" exhaust with ease. I was very happy to see that. enjoy

Like I said on the other forum, I'd love to try that brace out for you guys, but I think my car is too loud already to test it lol.

I'm super stoked about getting that brace though.

Yep, same here. My car is too loud for street car testing and I do not have any wheel hop. I need someone with wheel hop to see if it actually works or not. My main interest in the brace is the prevention of diff destruction. I know since I installed the solid diff bushings the gear noise is pretty loud and I would not like that on the street, although on the race track is does not matter. I would think the 2 in 1 brace would translate a little gear noise as did the solid diff bushings.

Well I do have wheel hop sometimes, but I probably wouldn't be able to tell with the noise. Unless this noise would be so much that I could hear it over the exhaust, then it might be a bit much lol.

Default Race and test results

I just returned from Blytheville Arkansas SCCA Pro and SCCA Tour. We had a great showing at both. I pulled out the win for both races so it made for a great weekend.

The 2 in 1 diff brace was awesome. I did not have any issues at all but my competitor did have serious wheel hop on the sticky concrete. After the first round of competition I removed the 2 in 1 and installed it on his car. He did not have any wheel hop after putting it on. I returned to my original set up for the remainder of the race. Also he was experiencing wheel hop when shifting into second and the diff brace solved that too. We are very exited about the results of the race and the outcome of the testing.

I will try and download some action photos from the weekend soon. On to the next project the EWP....... never ending!

Been working on the EWP install. I have been trying to figure where to mount everything so I just removed the housing and such and jumped right in. I am waiting on a SSR to get things hooked up on the electronics side but I need to fab everything first. Please don't make fun of my Aluminum welding skills. Also I hope I have mounted the pressure cap in a correct place. not really sure.

Also if you notice... My turbo off the car. I sent it to Comp turbo in Cali for a check up.

I added a pic of my Daily Driver the RX8..... The fuel pump or resistor overheated and the car stopped running. fortunately I was able to call my wife to pic me up so I could get home that day. Unfortunately I broke down in the hood which is my short cut home from work. haha. I put a wally 255 in it and that seemed to be the fix at this time.

More pics,,,,, I made my own inlet and outlets to the turbo coolant lines from an old school strut tower bar I have had for 10 years. Also I made my own coolant temp sensor weld bung from an ebay inter cooler spacer. I am also planning to put the coolant level sensor in the new pressure cap housing/AST. I knew that stuff would come in handy one of these days.

Almost finished with the EWP install. I just finished up the Alternator bracket so everything is coming together. I had to try a couple of different ways on the outlet adapter. Basically I had to weld some ends to it at an angle. The screw in fittings did not have enough space between them to put hoses on them or even better hose clamps. Now I will have to run by the machine shop to get the surface flat so it will seal. I guess I put a little to much heat to it during welding.

I received the SSR from LMSEFI.com ( Ludwig) and got everything wired in and ready to go.

Next:

Rebuild waste-gates
Install turbo
button up all the water lines
try the EWP out.

The car is up and running. The final test will be this weekend at the Pro Solo in Toledo OH.

Installed Davies Craig EWP115
Haltech controlling pump via Haltech Solid State Relay
Haltach set at 100Hz
Installed 16psi cap
Relocated Alternator to driver side
Haltech generic PWM map is CTS vs. RPM

I sent some emails to Davies Craig trying to find out what frequency to run the pump at but I never got a response. I hope someone will chime in and let me know if the frequency is off or something. I like the SSR so much I think I might control my radiator fans with them so the will not draw so much of a load to make the idle surge. That SSR gets pretty darn hot too. wow!

Also one interesting thought. I did my test drive on wet roads, it has been raining off and on all weekend. Up on my return the EWP did not work anymore. It seems that if the SSR gets wet it does not work. I un-bolted the SSR and while I turned it upside down the water ran out and the pump started working again. I soon re located the SSR inside the car so that would not happen anymore.

Also, I have have a few questions for you about your fuel setup a little later.

Haha, that is funny you mentioned the fuel system. I just returned from back to back weekends of racing. The EWP worked great and was a real help in keeping the engine from heat soaking between runs. First I went to Toledo Ohio for the Pro Solo and finished second. I was happy for the finish and happy the car did well. I just did not really enjoy the course so I did not drive all that great IMO. Although I gave it all I had I could only pull out second.
The second race I went up to Peru Indiana, I pulled out a Third with a cone. The car worked awesome and I had the fastest time on day one but I hit a cone and that added two seconds. The second day my car shut down on me ( fuel pump) and I believe it might have cost me second place and maybe first. Oh well we will never know but now I need to get the car ready and running for the Nationals.

The Fuel pump fuse was blowing????? Any ideas??? Now up on jack stands I can not get the pump to work or the fuse to blow as it was at the race. The pump does work via the Haltech relay and wiring but I had it ran through the stock relays and wiring. hmmmmm.
