				aluminum flywheel troubles

So i'm trying to install this aluminum flywheel on my car, trying being the keyword. I've got the rear counter weight on there correctly and the clutch fits but when i go to put the pressure plate on its got almost a half inch gap between the flywheel and the pressure plate. The flywheel is completely flat with no dowels in it, the clutch is recessed into the flywheels so its the pressure plate that is making it raised. So heres my question do i need to use a aftermarket pressure plate, spacers and longer bolts or what? I've never installed a light weight flywheel on a rotary before and from everything I saw I thought it just bolted up and was good to go. I have no idea what kind of flywheel it is either. Any help at this point would be appreciated

I think i figured it out, I believe its a centerforce clutch, which is suppose to come with spacers and longer bolts which would make it work so i guess i need to figure out. if a aftermarket one will work with it without the spacers or not and go from there. Can't seem to find the spacers for sale any where, who knows might just do a rb one and put it on the old visa

The outermost portion of the clutch disc should be facing the pressure plate and it should also be mentioned that if there is a gap after tightening the pressure plate bolts

I run a Centerforce Dual-Friction on my '87 Turbo, and I did not need any spacers. Are you, by chance, trying to install a non-turbo clutch onto a turbo flywheel? Turbo flywheel is flat. Non-turbo flywheel has raised pedestals. You cannot swap clutches between the two... -Ted |

If the clutch is installed right the raised side will be in the pressure plate not the flywheel and the pressure plate will sit off of the flywheel a bit until the bolts are tightened up(so the clutch is clamped down). Can you take a few pics of what you have to verify it is right? before tightening the pressure plate, you must use the line-up shaft that came with the clutch to center it with the pilot bearing. I have never seen any spacers on a clutch or pressure plate.

Yea Ted it's a non turbo the clutch fits in there fine and the bolt holes line up with my Na pressure plate, its because I'm trying to use a stock pressure plate. I'll take pics tonight but I think this one does use the spacers

Okay, let me see if I got this right... You're trying to use: 1) a non-turbo pressure plate 2) a non-turbo clutch disc 3) a turbo (aftermarket) aluminum flywheel Is that combo correct? -Ted |
