intake manifold valve
Hello .i just got a 04 rx8 and already in love.however i know nothing about the motor yet.the light came on and i had it teasted and it said the intake manifold valve was stuck open.can anyone tell me if this is a major problem and what to do about it. thanks

The valve in question controls the use of your variable intake manifold. As you move into higher loads/rpms, the intake manifold uses a valve to close one set of runners more efficient for low end and opens a better breathing set for high rpm. Generally the cause is debris buildup inside the manifold.

thanks for replying.this would probley have something to do with me getting terrible gas milage right?im trying to figure this out without going to the costly dealership.is thir a way to clean it?i was told the you wassnt suppose the run the gumout fuelsystem cleaner in rx8's

i could see this causeing lower gas mileage.
i would check for vac leaks first. then i would move to defective equipment (something is proly broken) then i would clean it with something. G.L. with the fix, keep us updated
