New from Northern VA

Bought my first rotary recently. 93' RX7, not sure how many miles are on it yet I hooked up a battery but the odometer doesn't seem to light up along with the other dash lights.

The engine is apart in pieces and I'm currently hunting some rebuild parts for it. The previous owner already started buying misc. O-rings, seals, gaskets and apex seals. Otherwise I would just buy a complete kit. I'm just learning about rotaries as I've only owned and worked on piston cars. Mostly hondas, I had an Evo and now the Rx7. I bought the bruce turrentine DVD to expand my knowledge on this type of engine.

I hope to get it back on the road within the next few months.

Yeah man I should have my FD on the road by Xmas lol. No probably a few months most of my rebuild parts should be in next week and I'm painting the engine bay this weekend. Once the motor is in I have to get the whole car sprayed.

Suppose I should check in.... welcome aboard man.

You originally from warrenton? Just wondering if we met before... I grew up in culpeper so I know a lot of people in the car scene from surrounding areas...

Congrats on the FD find... what are the details? Color, model, any existing modifications, where'd it come from, etc....?

I know his shop and I think I know where you live, lol... another rotor head lives out off 211 in amisville too - he's working on his FB project.

If you're an '05 grad I probably wouldn't know you ('02 alum of CCHS - so we missed by a few years)... but i'm sure I've seen you around town. I just moved back to culpeper in March...

we'll definitely have to all get together at some point. Let me know if you need a hand in the car though, the FD is the only gen i've never owned, but I've got the bases covered everywhere else...

Man, I would take everything apart and clean and inspect it all. I mean all by hand, take it down till you see metal and not rust. Inspect the housings and irons. But I'm anal. I double and triple checked my 6port when I tore it apart.

and lol at the random thermal reactor for an NA.

That looks like a fire sale, lol everything must go in that project - seems like a good deal to me.

It appears you have some totally random parts in there though, some not even rx-related, lol... it also looks like at least one of what appears to be two engines he gave you was a reman engine.. so you should have some relatively low mileage good parts in that pile...

I hope to pick up a similar project next summer once my FC is nearing completion....

You've def got your work cut out for ya though.... you'll learn to love the rotary though and hopefully never go back to pistons!

Yeah I just bought the Bruce turrentine dvd on rotaries so I'm learning the basics and I've already started cleaning some of the parts. I've never touched anything outside of a piston engine so it will be fun. I have extra stuff that came with it as you can see from the pics I have 2 rotors, 2 rotor housings and all the sides and middle plate from a N/A motor. Not sure the year or mileage I can find out but if anyone needs those parts lmk.
