Experinces with Eibach springs
Hello RCC!
I have been kicking around the idea of putting springs on my 94 touring FD. It is stock suspension wise other than a front strut brace. What I am looking for are people who DD their fds with Eibach springs, or perhaps a similar spring. I do not want something that will be rock hard but an increase over the stock spring rates. So if you have any experience with springs on the FD if you could please tell me your experience that would be great! |

You'll be fine with Eibachs or H&Rs. I drove my car for years with stock shocks and H&Rs before switching to coilovers. I do miss the H&Rs for street driving.

I guess techically it depends on the Eibachs. I'm currently on a set of GCs w/Eibachs....IIRC 550/450. Great for autocross, but far from ideal for street.

to be honest, mine sat too low on eibachs and my wheels rubbed the fender liners on bumps.. I was running 18x9's up front with a +45 et.

I've ran them on several different FD's. They drop them about an inch all around. They also have a red spring that I believe drops the car a couple of inches. The springs I am referencing here are the black ones. Here is a picture of how my silver car when it had Eibach springs and Tokico Illumina shocks with 18x9's with +45 front, and 18x10 +44 in the rear. I had zero rubbing issues. Very great combo for street/auto X/light tracking.
With my 17in RZ wheels: This an FD that I just put 5 track days on in the last 10 days that has stock struts and Eibach springs. No rubbing issues with these either. I also have driven it around 1000 miles back and forth across the state of Tennessee the last couple of weeks. No issue on the street with them being too harsh and are a nice step above stock.

My 2 cents..
I had RB, Eibachs, and now H&R.. RB is pretty soft, great for street, and makes the car sit pretty even. i had these with tokico 5 ways. Eibachs were my favorite! I had both regular and ones for pettit or racing beat.. i don't remember.. I believe difference were minor (spring rate). And I had them with stock shocks and tokico 5 ways. I now run H&Rs with Koni Yellows. Its ok.. I think I kind of prefer the Eibachs and I might go back to them later. Its not hard to change them out.. It took me first time about 3-4 hours. Last time, it took me about 2 hours, including changing out the brake pads. Go rent a spring compressor and you should be able to do it... And then drive somewhere for an alignment. When I first changed out the spring on my MB (with Eibachs) I never got an alignment and drove for 2 years. rear was bit negative camber but drove great around corners.. tire wear was bit more than normal but not bad enough to get one. I got an alignment after H&R (stock spec) but wears about the same.. (T1S tires on both times).
