Default is my trans messed up or iam i dumb. mt

i feel really dumb asking this. mind you the only other mt car i ever owned is my first gen sa. i noticed if iam doing like 40 in 4th(same in 5th and 6th at different speeds) and step on it my rpms will go up but not my speed. like the tach will jump 2k i hear my motor reving then it willl come back down then my rpms will match my speed. is this part of the traction control? on my way home i trie dit with the traction control off and it still did it. i know on some cars if you shut the traction control off its not really off still.

if you are stopped and you put the car in third gear will it die?

Also, traction control?

my car died when i tried to start from a dead stop in 3rd. i let a buddy who is much older then me drive my car and he said my clutch seems to slip only a little bit and said i should be fine till i have the cash for a new one.

dont rx8 have traction control? in my car next the cluster dimmer is a button label DSC ,i think that's what it say's. iam kinda hung over from a party. ill i know with it on if iam at a dead stop my tires dont want to spin. and with it off i can get them so i figured it was
traction control.

do you always have to get a new flywheel or get it resurface when replacing the clutch.

Definitely sounds clutch related to me, though I've never heard of this problem with any other RX-8's. Your DSC button stands for Dynamic Stability Control. Generally your traction control won't activate until your tires are spinning at different rpm's.....like peeling out or sliding sideways.
