Default Check Engine, no power

Well I had a problem with the car today. Driving home, turning onto the expressway, I got a check engine light, and hit what felt like a fuel cut at 3k rpm, and a 2k limit in any gear but first. I limped it at 40 mph home. Nothing under the hood looked to be wrong, no fluids pouring out, all the hoses seemed to be attached. I checked the oil level, it was at about 1/2 way down the dipstick. I topped it off. I found out how to check the engine codes, and checked it against an online database for them. It showed up as a code 27, which is a metering oil pump. I drove it again after I topped it off with oil. I was able to get up in the revs, but the car was noticeably slower, and the boost was slow to build up.

The only other thing that is going on with the car is that some time I will some times get a squeaking, or squealing noise when I decelerate mostly in second gear. If it is doing this squealing noise, it will squeal will I am at a stand still and free rev the engine, usually around 3k rpm. I don't know if that give you any clues for the above problem, but it is intermittent at best.

If you have any thoughts, it would be greatly appreciated.

Car is in limp mode, replace the OMP and reset the battery and it will go back to normal. As long as it is in limp mode any time you try to get out of vacuum and into boost(positive pressure) the car will just hesitate, buck and back fire. I have several omps lieing around if you want/need one. $40.00 Shipped. Changing it out isnt too bad if you have an aftermarket intake and dont still have the airpump.

The squeeling sounds like a belt issue, tighten the belts and the squeeking will likely go away. However, a squeeking noise could come from a lot of different things.

The car is stock other than a DP, so I have the air pump and the stock intake, I am in CA. It is my DD too! Thanks for the quick reply!

No problem, even if hte car is stock you should be able to get it changed out in a couple hours.

I found that the only real way to access the OMP with the engine in the car was from below. So it really doesn't matter if your AP is in the car or not.
I made a short "how-to" thread on this sometime back that might be of some help. Good luck. And to the Mods, please excuse the cross-forum link...

No problem.
If I could make one more suggestion, I think you can order up the copper crush washers for the oil lines at the pump end. There's also a unique shaped 'O' ring that you'll see once you have the pump off. I re-used both and got lucky. But I'd sure try to get new.
