Unfort. not an injury I was born with all 7 vertibrie in my neck but instead of seperating they fused together to form 3 so I have a short neck which causes problems with my back at times. I love driving and want to race but the helmet is going to be a big thing and I know some leauges make you pass sertain physicals which will be another problem because I am 5degrees on either side off to have the same side to side head motion most do. But I do not give up and will not give up.

oh damn! I thought you might have had bad disks are was forced to fuse them. The 5* off can be compensated with mirrors though, right? How LIGHT of a helmet do you think you can use?

Yep mirrors are a wonderful thing. My Del Sol has some nasty blind spots naturally that I have completly compensated for with the stock mirrors. I angle my side mirror to veiw down the side of the car so I can see what is on either side of me where a passenger would be if it was a four sitter. No extra mirrors thank god.

No clue yet there is a guy on your side of the country that makes the light helmets. He advertises for bikes though and my husband has talked to him about me. We hope when we visit that side of the country we can stop in and let me try them on and see if he would make me a car helmet to. So yeah expensive for me but hopefully I can finally hit the track.

doesn't matter to me. I'd look into contacts though, your glasses may fog up and they ask you to put the mask all the way down.

You can wear glasses with full face helmets, it's just tricky to get them on.

Just make sure you get an SA2005 rated helmet, those are good at most sanctioning bodies until 2015.

I've never been asked at close my shield on my helmet anywhere, track, AutoX, etc. I even took it off my old helmet at one point just so it wouldn't get scratched up so bad at the AutoXs. And on the track I leave it open unless their is alot of debris and it starts coming in the window.
